4 10's or 3 12's

I have a 88 single cab chevy half ton. I am not sure to either go w/ the 4 10" subs or 3 12". I want to jar everything round but not enough space. thanks alot!!

i say go with 4 10" rockfords with a 1000 or 1500 watt lanzar amp. but thats just me.

Three 12"s no doubt. More cone area plain a simple plus they will play lower as well

I have to disagree.

4 10s have more cone area, 126 in^2 Vs 3 12s with 113 in^2.

The 12s may play lower...but this boils down to sub choice and box design. A few high-end 10's will blow away a few cheap-o 12s anyday.

i agree with pro . i also think the 10s would hit harder and not miss beats . my friend has 2 mtx 6000 12s with a larger amp and mine wups his.

I say go with 2 12" adire brahmas with a XI-Colossus amp or two. Saves space but thats about it. Plus, it will kick the s**t out 3 12" and 4 10" any day of the week.

Apparently the laws of physics don’t apply to adire subs…I can’t believe that 2 12’s could keep up with 4 10’s, given the same power to both groups. The 12’s would have to be 6 db more efficient to even make this a close competition.

I say go with three 10 inch Rockford dual voice coil high power subs, and a BD1000.1 . With four tens or three twelves in that small of allowable enclosure space it would be two muddy, and punchy sounding. especially for those really LOW notes..

want deep bass? go for 3 12"s .. tight bass??? 4 10"s
