240watt amp for rear speakers, question...

Currently, I have a set of Jensen 6 1/2" on my rear deck (with swivel tweeters). I bought a 2 channel, 240 watt Pyramid Pro amp for $10 awhile ago, planning on using it to drive two speakers.

With my Pioneer DEH-1000 (45x4), will I notice an increase in sound quality, clearness, and loudness if I hook up the amp to the two speakers? Or am I getting enough power from the head unit?

I don't know a lot about amps, but I was told that sound quality increases with an amp, so would this apply here? I would be sending 120watts to both speakers.

not sure of the sound quality you will get from a Pyramid amp, but, i have not heard very good things about Pyramid. never heard one myself. anyway, if you do decide to use the amp - amp the FRONT speakers - you want your sound in front of you (ever been to a concert). the amps ratings are for max watts. the RMS watts will be a lot less for a Pyramid amp. you may be better off just using your HU until you can get a good 4 channel amp for all speakers. try it anyway - if it does not sound good - take it out!

Well, I don't know the specs on the amp but I am sure it is more than 22RMS (which my deck is), so maybe I'll wire it tonight.

I just tried the amp; and it was a waste of money. The head unit is putting out just the same amount of power as the amp. Oh well, I bought it used when I first started getting into the whole audio thing.

The Jensen's scream enough as is, though.
