Hi everyone,

I am trying to install a Clarion GL-300 Android radio in my 2017 Isuzu KB300 / D-Max 4x4 Double Cab.

The radio was advertised for the Isuzu D-Max 2012–2021 range, but the supplied harness does not match the factory plugs in my vehicle. I have since been advised that the 2017 models may have been fitted with different radio connectors depending on the specification or factory radio.

My vehicle has the Quadlock-style connector shown in the attached photos.

I am looking for a ready-made or proven plug-and-play harness that will:

  • Connect the factory Quadlock plug to the Clarion GL-300
  • Retain the steering-wheel controls
  • Retain the factory reverse camera and automatic reverse trigger
  • Retain ignition/ACC, illumination, speakers and antenna
  • Avoid cutting or modifying the factory wiring

One supplier has offered a custom-made harness, but I would first like to confirm whether anyone has installed an aftermarket Android radio in a D-Max with this exact connector.

Has anyone encountered this plug arrangement or found a compatible harness? Product names, part numbers, wiring information or supplier recommendations would be appreciated.

I will attach photos of:

  1. The factory Isuzu plugs
  2. The Clarion GL-300 Harness
  3. Factory Radio

Thanks in advance.

Installing an aftermarket Android radio like the Clarion GL-300 in your 2017 Isuzu KB300/D-Max can be tricky, especially with the variations in wiring connectors. Here's a detailed approach to what you can do:

### 1. Check Compatibility
- Since you've identified that your vehicle has a Quadlock-style connector, ensure that the Clarion GL-300 is compatible with this style. Review the wiring diagram for both the factory and Clarion harnesses to understand which wires correspond to which functions.

### 2. Find a Compatible Plug-and-Play Harness
- Searching for a Harness: Look for a plug-and-play harness that specifies compatibility with the Isuzu D-Max, particularly the 2017 model year. Retailers like Crutchfield, Metra, and local car audio shops may offer harnesses specifically designed for this.
- Direct Compatibility: Focus on harnesses that connect the factory Quadlock plug to the Clarion GL-300 and confirm they retain steering wheel controls, back camera, ACC, and illumination.

### 3. Pinout Information
- Ask for or search for the pinout details for both the factory Quadlock connector and the Clarion GL-300. This can help you identify which wires to connect and avoid any modifications to the factory wiring.
- Common pinouts include:
- Constant Power
- Switched Power (ACC)
- Ground
- Illumination
- Speaker outputs

### 4. Retaining Features
- Steering Wheel Controls: Ensure the harness includes a module to retain these features, which may require an additional adapter specific to your vehicle and radio.
- Reverse Camera: Check if the radio has an input for the reverse camera and the harness has the necessary connections to retain this function.
- Automatic Reverse Trigger: Make sure this signal is properly connected as per your existing wiring.

### 5. Consider Custom Options
- If you can’t find a pre-made harness that meets all your needs, consider the custom-made option the supplier offered. This can be a great way to ensure everything is compatible and functional without cutting factory wires.

### 6. Consult Fellow Installers
- If possible, seek out forums or groups specific to Isuzu D-Max or car audio installations. Other users may have faced the same issue and could offer specific product recommendations or tips based on their experience.

### Final Thoughts
It's essential to have a complete understanding of your wiring to avoid any damage to your vehicle's electrical system. If you're uncertain about any connections, consulting a professional installer may be a good idea.

Feel free to post your situation and any further questions! Others who have done similar installs may have valuable insights to share.
