2 week notice.

You only need to put in 2 weeks notice if you plan to work for that company again in the future. If you arent going to want to go back to one of their stores and apply, the fuck it...
that doesnt seem like good practice though. the whole purpose of the 2 week notice is for the company to change the schedule around to fill in the spots where you wont be working anymore. if you just leave, that could fvck up the schedule and you may not get that good of a reference if your next employer calls your previous one.

however, what i was wondering is, how often do employers call your references?

if you want to use them as a reference, then you'd have to put in your two weeks, otherwise, **** it, dont list em as a reference in the future, cuz if u dont do it professionaly, they'll list you as terminated

yeah just be a man and quit in person, just say im going to get a job that pays me more, they might ask what and how much and might offer you a raise, but they might say ok no problem, they may even let you go before 2 weeks is over...for sabotage reasons, thats what happened with me

well i want to put in a 2 weeks notice so i know i get all of my pay.
Legally they cannot withhold any payroll to any employee, even if you are terminated for stealing. Just make sure you write down your hours for verification incase they try to slip one by you. Just give them the two weeks notice to keep a good reference. Its a nice thing to do anyway. Just think if you were in their shoes and being a manager.

You guys are putting way too much thought into this, it's a menial six buck an hour job with a ridiculously high turnover rate. He can simply walk out, and they'll just bring in some scumbag from a temp agency who will work for even less.

x2, you can always be replaced, no matter who you are

It really doesn't matter too much at your age ( I assume young because you work for $6, forgive me if I am incorrect) whether you give 2 weeks or not. It is a good thing to do just incase you need to return in the future. Also, be very sure you have this other job before you do anything.

In retail in stocking shelves, I doubt they would call former employers, they just want to know you have had some work experience. I feel the situation would be different if you were management, then they would be more likely to call.

if you did a hard working good job give them a 2 weeks notice, if you just up and leave and you put them on your referer's list for contact when your looking for another job they will say " leaves without a trace, involuntarilly discharged or something." thats what happened to me when i up and left U.S.E.L.

tell your boss your looking for a position what pays more money cause you cant afford to pay all your bills for the current salary and you are giving your 2 weeks notice to give him time to find a replacement. That way you can always come back if it doesnt work out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Also he might decide hey lets give him a raise so he will stay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
