2 subs, mono amp?

Is it possible to wire 2 subs to a mono amp? How would I do it? What ohm load would it be then? I have 2 10" Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1Ds.

You bet.

The 10.1d's are dual 4ohm ... so you can wire a pair of them in parallel to 1ohm. Pictured below.

Would there be any risks by doing this? Also what would be a good amp to run those subs and how does the RMS rating work: like if an amp pushes 500x1 at 2 ohms, what would that be at 1 ohm for 2 subs?

No risks whatsoever.

If an amp does 500W at 2 ohms, that same amp would do double the power and half the impedance - as Ohm's Law predicts. The one rub is, the power requirements are double, so your amp might not be able to take the lower impedance load.

And with that said, I'd say something ~ 600-700 RMS x 1 @ 1ohm should work well with your Perfects.

So what size power and ground wire should I run with that? 4 gauge? I have 1/0 gauge running from the battery to a distro block that has two outputs for 4 gauge. Will this be any worse on my electrical system than a 2 channel amp?

4 gauge from ur distro is great

with 6-700 wrms, the amp shouldn't bother ur car unless ur battery and alt are real weak..

Well my stock alt. is rated at 65 amps but I am going to be doing the big 3. I guess we will see this coming spring. Thanks guys, now to order the amp and I should be finished.

i'd suggest looking into a larger alt...65amps isn't much...as wellas the big3

Yeah, I am looking at getting an alt from a 3g Mustang. It is 130 amps.
