Rear deck & front spkrs VS front only

Hey guys, I hope all is well ! I wanted to ask a few more questions before I started on my doors. I got all my speakers etc in now and was thinking of the best way to do the door pods, I will include a pic and what I am thinking about doing at the moment. Jeffdachef you had mentioned I should put an actual baffle ( enclosure kind ) on the 6.5" so it would not interfere with the 7" using the door space ( back wave etc ). I was going to locate the 7" Anarchy in the stock speaker location and the 6.5" a little to the right of it. With the large pocket area there, I was thinking of just closing up the area inside the pod between the two speakers and using the pocket area as an enclosure for the 6.5" ( cutting the pocket area off of the door panel to make in glass ). I was not quite sure though on the air space as most door speakers I guess are just meant to work in IB, so was not sure if this was a good idea or not. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any other suggestions. I just haven't been able to make a final decision on placement of the speakers yet. I appreciate! Oh! I also got a few goodies for my sub set up as well 😃 Thanks! Let me know what you think!

    Need ideas! Get Crazy!!

Dont get me wrong I would love to rock something like that, but really need to minimize space that is required for the sub. Looking up some stuff at the moment on designs but I think my only options at the moment would be the console ( or console plus extending it into the back seat as an armrest / drink holder , could still fit people in back if needed ) or Infinite baffle in rear deck. Taking a look at some other subs at the moment and requirements. Are the Solo Barics the only sub that acts like an Isobaric enclosure? Only needing half the air space as sealed? What are some brands of subs made for sealed enclosures specifically ( still learning about all the non mainstream brands ) ? I will be doing a lot of reading on it this evening so I may come up with some more stuff / ideas. I appreciate you guys giving me some input! Love that bird! lol I did tear out the back seats in my 2 door mustang once and put two 15" punch back there ( every customer knew when the pizza man arrived lol ), one behind each front seat and made it level with the rear deck. Not sure I want to go that big again lol, plus no room for the drunks lol. I am in my 40s now though so cant be tearing out my back seats lol. Although! I would not be against making the butt portion or back portion of the seats into an enclosure or IB into the trunk! Hmmm butt cushion enclosure with proper padding on top might be doable. Would probably need to go with something smaller than a 12 though, unless I used the cushion area for the enclosure and had the 12 coming up out of the middle seat in the back, hmmm hehe. See how one idea can turn into another? lol Ideally would like to keep it to one sub if possible that can handle a large amount of power and sound clean. I am going to be running 3 way active in the front ( around 1k-1400 watts rms for the 3 way set up ) so I want the sub to be able to keep up with it. I listen to everything from rock, thrash, metal, classical, hip hop, rap, r&b, etc so I am all over the place in music, just no country music really. So far in my mind the center console ( gear shift back to armrest and space in between armrest and back seat ), with it possibly stretching into the back seat ( middle seat in back ) as an armrest is winning in my head, the cushion thing I think would be very interesting indeed ( think it would look nice as well, as long as I can match the cars interior properly ). Took a good look at the rear deck today, and man that will be a pain in the ass to pull out and remake, especially with the seat belt supports etc in the rear deck itself. Thank you guys for the input! Anyone checking this out, feel free to put out some ideas or examples! No info is bad, it leads me to read on what you post and I learn even more, so it helps me out either way!!

    Need ideas! Get Crazy!!

I am sure it will, but the issue at hand is where to put it at? Thanks for your input! I got a funny one for you as well. As you see from my post I still consider myself a novice. When I first saw a Transmission line box post I thought it was a box that went along your drive axle in your vehicle lol. Now, I know what one is now but was kinda funny lol. With my current skills I would probably have to build like twenty of them before I got it right lol. I need ideas everyone! Any input or examples would be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys! I hope you are doing well! I started a new thread over in subwoofers. I am trying to get ideas for a sealed enclosure for the interior of my car. Since my dad is disabled I really need my trunk space and I am looking for crazy ideas on where to put my sub at or getting a different one to fit the application. Check it out and let me know if you have any input, I appreciate it guys!

    Need ideas! Get Crazy!!

Hi everyone! I have had a thread going on in General discussion about a new audio setup I would like to do. I am still a little bit of a noob but I am reading and learning as much as I can as I go along. Jeffdachef and a few others helped me out a ton on choosing speakers etc for my new setup. Well everything is already on the way and I am good to go in that department and will be starting my doors soon. I wanted to get some ideas from you guys on different sub locations other then the trunk. I have a Alpine Type SWR-1242D ( I am not opposed to going to another sub or size really as long as it will really fill in those low notes, but would be great using the one I have already ) that I am running currently and was trying to think of places other then the trunk itself for an enclosure. Now that my dad is disabled I really really need my trunk space for medical devices etc. So far I've thought about redoing my armrest area and extending it ( tearing out current one and making a new one from wood / fiberglass) to meet the back seats and using it as a sealed sub enclosure with some drink holders and other stuff that I would love to have in my armrest area ( phone holder, smoke spot, etc etc ). I have also thought about maybe the rear deck with an enclosure built underneath it that does not go all the way to the trunk floor but maybe like halfway or something like that. Another idea someone had mentioned was placing a sub or two in the actual seat cushion that your back rests against, with the rear of the speaker into the trunk free air. So I am looking for crazy ideas!!! I have tried looking up civic installs for my type of car but have not really found much. So.....Post your crazy ideas here please!! If you know someone who has actually done it or have pictures of examples, please share them!! Know someone that makes crazy boxes for cars in odd places? Let me know who it is!! Any info is good info! I do truly appreciate everyone's input! Thank you guys!!! My car 2005 Honda Civic LX 4 door The back seats fold down, one is the size of a passenger seat, the other is passenger seat plus the middle seat ( The parts that fold down ). I maybe have passengers in the back seat twice a year if that. I will try to attach some pics of the interior below. Wanted to post some pics of mine but it is pouring out at the moment so... Now I would prefer sealed as it doesn't require as much space, don't have to worry about a port, so can make some crazy shapes if needed and I do enjoy the tighter accurate sounding tones. But! Let me hear all of your opinions and ideas, even if they sound crazy! It may lead to giving me another idea lol!! I really want to do something different and unique with this if I can. I couldn't find a great rear deck pick, but the 01-05 models I believe are all the same.

Ya my current alternator is only 80 amps when I got the car, nowadays its more like 50 lol. It was barely working with the amps I currently have ( have to choose between using the AC or headlights lately, windows are superslow to rollup ). Plus its a 15 year old alternator now and is not doing too hot. So I figured doing it now and getting a higher amp one would benefit me more long term. I could have spent less on it but I really wanted something that was quality and know that it was going to be doing what I wanted vs taking a chance on a cheaper product to save money. Can not tell you how many " I wanted to save money and take the cheap route, but now I have a $200 paperweight " posts I have read in the last few weeks lol. Plus I have an idea brewing in my little crazy head right now in the sub department lol, now that I have more amps available 😃

Hey guys, I decided to put my saved money to a needed use, I AM THUPER EXTHITED!! MECHMAN!!! YAAH!! I assumed this would be the best investment I could make. Cant wait to get this bad boy! Been doing a lot of reading on power wire and the like, so I figured if I was going to be doing all this work and adding amps, I needed to make sure I was not a total noob and have a nice power plant. I am like a kid on Christmas right now lol, AND my dad is getting out of the hospital today and is able to go back to rehab yay! He had a uti, kidney infection, and was septic and we didnt know how it was going to go. He has done great though and I am really happy hes on his way back to rehab so he can come home soon. Well to their home lol. Still waiting on stuff to be delivered and need to order more stuff ( of course ) but it is slowly happening! Thanks again! and I will update my post again soon! Hope everyone is having a good week! MechMan Invoice Due:05/08/2019 Amount Due: $0.00 Dear Customer : Your paid invoice is attached. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks to process your order. So...I thought I was good on all my door speakers =( Just got my money refunded for the 8" PWX. So no PWX and no Anarchys available. Still waiting on an email from them about my refund but I am sure its because they do not have them in stock and did not update their website. Soooooo lol any other suggestions for the mid bass? Seems like every time I find one I cant actually buy it lol. Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions, I really appreciate it!! EDIT: Nevermind! Got an email from them about the Anarchys, they are in stock but was problem with website only showing one at the moment, so I will be able to get them after all! Thanks again everyone!

Rear deck & front spkrs VS front only

Jeffdachef ....you...are....awesome! If I didn't live all the way over on the other side of the country I would buy you a beer sir! I ordered all my speakers!!!!!! Only downside.. I could not get the anarchys =( They only have one available and that is it, I have to admit I was looking forward to seeing the low end they could do, the Crescendo 6.5" will still be roughly another month ( just got email from them ). So final purchase was the Prv 6.5" the 6MR500s ( woot ), the CT2s and the PWX 8". Most places were out of the 8" as well but got lucky and found one single place that has some in stock lol (800woofers). I saw that DSP while I was looking around and was not quite sure about it really. Purchasing the Dayton DSP saves me the extra $250 -$300 I was going to possible spend ( around $400ish total ) for a DSP! You are the man! So now with the extra savings and the more powerful 6.5" I may get an extra 8704 amp for the 6.5s OR bridge both 8704s for the 8" and 6.5" speakers and use my Alpine A/B 4 channel bridged to the tweeters. 2x200 rms ( more watts cant hurt right? 😃 ). Will probably make that decision later on as I would like to hear them first on the 100 watts rms. I also need to figure out what size alternator to get ( amp wise ), all I am running my current setup from is stock alternator ( 80 amps? ) with yellow top Optima battery and a Cap. Need to read up on that more as well. Thanks again guys for all the guidance you have given me, I really do appreciate all the help. I will hopefully be taking pics of everything we do and update you guys. If I hit some snags ( which I am sure I will! lol ) I will be asking for some advice along the way. I will talk to you soon, and thanks again for all the help you have given me!

Hey thanks again Jeffdachef, I really appreciate the help. Not sure what to do at the moment about the UN 6.5" as I have not been able to find them anywhere. Every place I check they are out of stock. I sent an email to them asking for possible arrival date, but no response yet. So I may have to go with a different 6.5" if it is going to be a good while yet before they are back in stock. I have been looking at DSPs a lot and it does not look like there are a ton of options in the 8 channel output area. With so many people running a three way and sub / subs, I would think there would be more on the market then there is. With my head unit having a seperate Subwoofer output would I be able to go with a 6 channel and a 2 channel, or two 4 channel, one for each side? Just trying to see if there is any alternatives. Most of the 8 channel DSPs are in the $600-$800 range with the exception of the Cadence and PRV models and maybe one or two companies that I have never heard of. I have not been able to find that many articles or posts recommending certain ones besides those "top ten review" type sites. Dont get me wrong I would love to spend $800 on the nice Audiocontrol one, but would like something a little less expensive lol. Any recommendations in this area by chance? Thanks again!

Rear deck & front spkrs VS front only

Thanks again guys for the info! I was wondering if the mid bass needed to be enclosed ( its own separate chamber ) when I do the doors? I can see the 6.5 doing ok using the air space inside the door, but was unsure about the mid bass ( was no recommended enclosure size / type on site ). I was also trying to find another place to buy the 6.5" as they are out of stock and did not see it on amazon or sonic etc, SSA is out as well. I wanted to start making my doors soon and at least get the speakers ordered as soon as possible. Let me know any suggestions you would have on the doors or another place to purchase the 6.5". I appreciate it a lot! One other item, the amps are pretty inexpensive, I don't see any differences in the two different series ( 8604 vs 8704 ). If I was able to pick up two of the 8604s for $100 total should I go for it ? Thanks again guys! Little busy this weekend but I will hopefully be able to check back in. Hope you all have a good weekend!

Hey guys, thanks again for the suggestions! I checked them all out as best as I could. Nice video by the way, I love the fur doors!! Do you think the PWX mid bass vs the Anarchy 7" is about the same? I know the PWX take a little more mounting depth but not by a huge margin. Other difference would be the cost of course, the PWX would only be $90 for a set where the Anarchys are $125. I did decide I like the MA CT2IIs and the fact that they come with different mounting options is pretty nice. That Crescendo 6.5" is fairly nice as well. I tried to read as many reviews and forum posts as I could find on the different tweets and mids etc. I did have a question though about the amps. If I ran the CT2s, Crescendo 6.5", and either of the Anarchy or PWX, the Crescendos 6.5" is up to 300 watts rms. Would I also want to run bridged to the them as well as the Anarchy or PWX? If so, instead of running two diff amps bridged to those, would I not want to just find a more powerful 4 channel amp and just a separate 2 channel for the tweets? I am also thinking I may not be able to find 1200 watts of 4 ohm rms power for the cost of two GM-8704s as well, so possibly just add in a third amp? Three of them would put the cost at $480, be nice to find a big ass 6 channel amp at that cost lol. Basically was just wondering if there would be a better amp set up if I needed to do that. I checked out the ones that Beak suggested as well. The Stevens look very well built and have some nice terminals on them, there was not a ton of reviews of the Faitals, well ones in English heh, that I could find. I did read some personal experience posts from forums on them. Sorry was typing this up as you guys posted some- I am running a sub, its a Alpine type R 12" Dual VC 4ohm in a ported box at the moment. I think I am sold on the CT2s and the Crescendo 6.5" I really could not find a bad thing about them anywhere I looked. Just need to decide on the mid bass and amp set up. Still looking around at DSPs, do they typically tend to perform any better if matched with the same type of amps? Still need to do a lot of reading on those really. Again, thanks a ton guys! I really appreciate the input you all give me!! - Side note - doing all this reading and audio stuff is a great distraction at the moment from dealing with my parents medical issues and all the things I need to do for them all the time - make a mental note to ask your parents if they have a plan in place to take care of themselves in sickness and old age!!!

Ya they look pretty good actually. Sonic still has the 8604 for sale, as well as the 8704 of course, both still same price and stat wise look identical. Still go with 8704s? I have to admit it would be nice to actually buy something for my setup to actually feel like I am getting somewhere lol. I am still looking at speakers, but I didnt get a confirmation if the Anarchy I linked was the right one or not. I linked the 704, it was the only one that was close Anarchy 7 inch woofer by Denovo Audio . No luck on the Alpine X tweeters, any other suggestions on those and the midrange? I am a little unsure on what size the midrange should be with a 3 way setup as I have always used component sets. I really appreciate you guys helping me out! Thanks again!

One other thing, I was wondering what line of amps to look at. I was looking at some of the PPI amps and they seem to do well on the dyno. I also see people using class D full range for fronts as well now. Is that the way to go now a days?

Rear deck & front spkrs VS front only

Hey, I posted a ton of stuff but evidently it did not actually post lol. The anarchy mid, is it the 704? This one? https://www.diysoundgroup.com/anarchy7-4ohm.html I have already done deadening in trunk and trunk hatch, doors, and floor. I need to still do the rear deck and the headliner and maybe one more layer in the trunk. Was waiting till I got the materials for my headliner, as it is sagging some, to do that and the other at the same time. I am going to upgrade the alternator as well, but waiting to see how many amps I will really need before grabbing one as they can get pricey. I checked out some of the Audiofrog stuff, it may be out of my price range, but I may have been looking at the wrong stuff. It was the GB series and just the mid was like 300 bucks. I did find some of the Dynaudios but the prices on them are over 300 by a good bit now. Again though, I may not be looking in the right places for some of these things. I did find a pair of the JLs but they were already sold. I will look again a little later this evening and see what else I can find. Thanks again for the input, I do appreciate it! Any other comments or suggestions are welcome!!
