  1. so I have two Soundqubed HDC4 15s laying in a way too small box atm and i want to make a nice upgrade box vise. This wont be in a car anymore but for cinema use for now, had great help here before so I'm posting here becouse car audio or not you guys seem to know your enclosures. Therefore im hoping someone knows some tips about tapped horns. wanted to share my current plans and i have looked into all sorts of types of cabs all the way from simple ported boxes to 8th order cabs.. that being said, what do the horn experts say about my current plans and can you use this massive driver in a tapped horn? how big of a box im a looking at if i want a "true" half wave lenght horn all the way down to 27hz ish? MUUCH appreciated in advance:) Size: no limit Operational Fq range: 27-50hz (do you tune tapped horns?) Driver: SQ HDC4 15s Amp: 5k pa amp by crown Money material vise: deep pockets but uknow reasonable

Thanks! Its a HDC4 15" so quite a wide gap, managed to take it out with some tools i dont remember the name of, but im glad i dont have to recone the whole sub, just take the dust cap off is nice know for now on👌🏻

Screw went in the pole vent..

Soo i dropped i screw in the pole vent of my sub, can hear different noices when i move the sub up and down (excursion) but it seems i cant fint it anymore and take it back.. Am i litterally «screwed» now?
  4. Hey, i have a system in my car that i have to take out, ive allways wanted to test it in my room, but how do i ground the amp/batteries? i have two 120ah batteries and a 2.5k amp powering two hdc4-15s, i wont be using any alt/distrubitor just the batteries (worked fine in the car) (yes no alt, voltage drop fine just 0.3 max) but there i had the intire car as a ground, **so, are the negative terminals on the batteries good enough ground?** i really appreciate any input from you guys:)

    Benefits of bigger magnet subs?

Yeah, sure bigger is often better but better made with better materials might be just as important

    Benefits of bigger magnet subs?

Going from two 15" CV home audio subs to hdc4 12s Should be louder despite going down from a 15 to 12 but bigger/wider motor right? Hah

    Benefits of bigger magnet subs?

Yeah weight is becoming a problem in my trunk.. two 23kg batteries each and a 30-40kg box that (soon) will carry two hdc4 12s, hope i dont notice the range reducing much when the almost 30kg each sub come (nissan leaf) would be nice not having to carry a "fake family" around all the time haha

    Benefits of bigger magnet subs?

Hellu It seems logical that bigger and more beefy subs with a higher price tag should be better/louder but i have never quite understood why? this is what i have heard: Bigger motor = more control Longer motor = more travel Stiffer susp = take more beating? bigger coil = higher temp tolarence/watt tolarence Are there any other things that im missing? does bigger motor/magnets do more then just have more control for example? (getting new subs that are drastically bigger in all aspects:santa:) super curious if there is more to this than just ^above^ and what im supposed to expect

    Two hdc3 15s or one hdc4 18

Looking forward to that 8 18s build he has coming thoo But before i spend any (kr) im gonna try this isobaric thing hah, look it up it seems like a great way of getting more motorforce and halving some t/s parameters making it need half the box. One article said that is hasnt cought on becouse of the xtra power and woofer demands (you can only hear the one out of the box) but ive got power, and five 15s waiting to be used so why not try this with four 15s in cone cone spec before any 12s start arriving

Difficult to get, hdc3/4 mockups are cheap here hah and some dd or ground zero if u know those are deacent, b2 too

I actually work with home audio stuff, there are many examples where there is very little space (not ideal) but with wifes complaining it has to be the smallest possible, loads of great subs that work brilliantly but not as a traditional subwoofer/box. Have you seen Exo's frankenstein? The woofers litterally could not fit normally cuz of the box was so small, however those 6 18s pounded. I get that you would want some number of cf for each woofer size and so on but some times (if you have the power and enough bracing) adding cone area would not be a bad idea. Remember my main goal is just to be Loud . And hit deacent lows if possible but not necessarly;)

Just saw what todays gas prices were, 16kr per liter aka 2,2 dollars, in gallon you need 3,7 liters so 2,2 dollars x 3,7 liters is 8,1 dollars a gallon(US) here Should just move iguess haha.. hence the electric car muuch cheaper

Not really, sweden is cheaper with food but thats about it, closest one with significant difference is prob bulgaria or something and thats some days worth of driving so pretty limited options..:/
