Their amps look affordable, are they known for having the best amps? I remember hearing of them being up their in quality back in the day when I was more into car audio (1999-2002).

    Referring to Taramps?

I'll probably just go pre-fab then, they are so cheap that if it sucks I can just toss it. As-is I'm 100% content with SQ and 90% content with bass output, it's more curiosity than anything. No, it's a Subaru BRZ

Can you build me a box?

Thinking about it, I'm not sure that I need/want more bass. Listening to rap it sounds perfect, enough to sound clean and rattle my rear view mirror, while taking only 1/4 of trunk space. Maybe I will start with the Taramps 3000 and see where I am at after that. Though, I am really curious about hearing a ported box so this may change come summer. Definitely not looking to spend money on a custom box. There are boxes on Amazon that give 1.5-2 cubes of space, and will consume maybe 6" more of width in the trunk, which I can live with. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FBFNKDI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A143KFI2TOWOP0&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IFEGB3I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AFD3YB3MPK3U3&psc=1

Not looking to switch subs or my car, and yes space is an issue. It looks like an SA12 ported only needs 1.5-2.0 cubes? I may be able to pull that off. Is sealed 'healthier'? As it would prevent possible bottoming out with higher power? I noticed 1-2 years ago that my sub makes a tapping sound on low notes. It sounds like a credit card tapping on a wood surface. No loss in bass. I think I posted here around that time and someone said I'd likely need a re-cone.

I think it sounds great, but since getting it I've read that you are missing out if you don't go ported so I've been curious. In a sealed box it sounds awesome with any type of music. Currently running '1000' x 1 @ 1ohm...not sure how much power it's actually getting though. Curious how a Taramps 3000x1 will do with it.

Can you guys give me any advice on an enclosure for my Sundown Audio SA12? Their site says 1 cube foot for sealed, 1.5-2 for ported. I listen to rock/alternative/rap so sealed may be the best bet, but if I can get more output if I sacrifice accuracy, I may be ok with it. Is there a happy medium? Currently in a 1 cube ft sealed. Is it safer to stay sealed if I am upping the wattage?

Thanks, this helps justify my amp switch even more.

Out of curiosity, did you ever have the Rubicons dyno'd or have any issues with them? I am pretty content with the output and they have not given me any problems. They do get a little hot after an hour or so.

Will I be ok with 4 gauge power wire? I am currently feeding a power block with 4 gauge, then going from that to my SS amps with 10 gauge. Or should I run 0 from battery to block, then 0 or 4 to amps?

Ok that helps, my tweeters are technically full range so that explains why the rating is so low, i think my mid speakers are too. I guess the same rule applies to my mid speakers except not as much of a buffer as if i was using them for highs.

Jeff is correct, looking to really just get smaller amps so i can change my mounting situation. I figured i could get plenty of head room in the process since amps are so cheap these days. I am looking for clean mids/highs, it would be nice if i could get more output from them, if not I'm considering replacing the speakers. The sub i will likely set with a multi meter and see how it sounds and tweak as needed. I am definitely not looking to max out my gains, i listen to many different genres of music, looking for clean output What i don't understand is what is the rms rating for on a speaker if you can technically connect any wattage of amp to it.
