Older MB Quart speakers worth picking up?

Yea I thought that might be the case, I was hoping I found some sweet old school speakers but just by the initial selling price of the 4" ones I was skeptical lol I bought the 4'' aura rpm's of parts express when they had the buyout last year and I like them but am looking for something with a little more output now. Any recommendations?
  2. Found these on Craigslist in new condition. Would these be worth picking up? I would be running them both as mid range, high pass of 250hz. Splitting RCA Input?

I thought of doing this same thing with the last head unit I had, never got to it but from what I read it didn't seem like there would be any problem obviously as long as only one was being used at once.

    6 SA-10'S or 2 15" SP4's

Why do you say that? I guess I don't fully understand the relationship between motor force and power.

I would go with the 15s but something rated at 1500 or so rms as well. Possibly, just ideas, the fi bl, sundown zv4, xcon, or death penalty.

    Sundown Audio enclosure questions

If you have the same cone area in the same box (if I understand correctly that is what you are doing right?) I don't see either of the subs being much louder if your amp is turned all the way up. I could be wrong maybe others have more insight.

    Best all-around subwoofer for 150-200$

ahh good point. I didn't consider that, go with the d4 if you ever plan on adding another sub.

woofersetc is a trusted site and is #6 on the top car audio sites on ca.com. You can check the other sites, theyre on the main page of ca.com if your interested. You can always turn down the gain to put out approximatly 800 watts at 1 ohm setting with a dmm.

    Alpine Type "R"

That amp is rated at 1200 rms from 1.5-4 ohm so I wouldn't recommend running it at 1 ohm unless you really have to. I would go with the dual 4 ohm version and run them at a final load of 4 ohm. This way if you decide to change amps in the future or sell the subs they will be able to wire down to 1 ohm together. Just what I would do

Whatever sub you choose, if you are only running one sub, I would get a dual 2 and run it at 1 ohm. Just to be sure you have enough power because you can always back down the gain a little bit anyways.

Zv3 will not make any noise, whats going on?

Ok just checked the coils individually with my dmm and its weird to say the least. Checked both on my bench one reads about 3 ohms and the other read 170. So I picked up the sub and brought it to my car sat in it the backseat, free air to test it. Hooked up the first coil, 3 ohms, to my surprise it worked with no mechanical noise. Then tested the other and it too worked again with no mechanical noise. Retested both coils with a dmm one read 3 ohms again and the other read 8 ohms now I don't get it. Could there be something inside that is coming undone with moving the sub or something?

    Kicker l7 10"

I don't know what price he is getting an L7 for but I can see the average price that they are going for online and they are relatively expensive. It does seem like you prefer the sealed box, maybe check out the alpine type r Alpine SWR-12D4 12" 2000W Dual 4-Ohm Type-R Car Audio Subwoofer They seem to do well in sealed boxes and everyone I have known who has one loves it. Since your kicker was a square 10'' a 12" round sub will have similar cone area. Just a suggestion, maybe someone else has another sub that would be more fitting for your application.
