Amp going into protect mode with voltage drop

So I just got a brand new set up and I have installed multiple systems before and never had this problem. I have a 2011 Malibu with the 2.4l motor. I have a 102 amp alternator. I have my radio hardwired straight to the battery with the amp wire connected to the power of the radio and a flip switch in the middle to turn it on/off. I have 2 gauge power and ground wire to the amp. This system hit extremely hard and would stand a girls hair up when the stood behind the trunk fairly close. Now it’s super quiet and when I turn it up so loud it goes into protect mode. I fixed my bug ground on the amp and it helped a little bit. I then fixed the ground at the battery for the radio and it fixed my problem for about 2 seconds and then went back to what it was doing. When I used a voltmeter there is drop down to almost 8 volts when it hits hard at the power and ground at the amp. It’s running one OHM. Does anyone have an idea on what it could be? Possible the alternator? I’m at a loss right now

Sounds like your running on stock electrical. That weak stock 102 alt isn't gonna support the voltage that amp needs to operate. Need at least the big 3 done. Also I'm betting the gain is turned up too much on the amp. That will have a significant amount of play into the picture.

It's very rare to have 4 ch amps run 1 ohm.....what you have pictured is a mono amp not a 4 ch amp.

Yeah you’re right I said that wrong it’s a mono. And yeah I figured the amp was too small. What is the big 3 you are recommending? I have found a few that are 300 amp alts but they’re around 400 dollars which is fine but I was also wondering if a inline battery would help with the voltage drop? I’m just confused on how it worked fine and was very loud then just randomly got quiet

You need Big 3, and HO Alternator. The stock electrical on that car will NOT support any amp at 1500W @ 1 Ohm. That Amp is attempting to pull 104-125 amps of current at its rated power.

You must take care of the Big 3 first, then upgrade alternator. Big 3 cables are the arteries, the alternator is the heart.

Search Big 3

You stated you've installed multiple systems before but never heard of the big 3???? Plenty of YouTube vids on tutorials, explanations and know how.
