I installed Rockford Fosgate P1675-S in the front doors and I don’t mind telling you…the factory Boston Acoustics sound sooooooo much better! I didn’t care for them after I installed them thinking I had to make some adjustments, but no. .so I did a side by side sound comparison and the clear winner was the BA’s.

The BAs are probably much more efficient. Typically, OEM speakers are high Q, high efficiency and not very well damped, so they'll sound "hotter" and more exciting than aftermarket speakers. Plus they'll be louder. Are you using an OEM HU?

Distortion caused by the cone "breaking up." Heavier aftermarket cones don't break up as easy. Break up will sound louder.
