is it worth swapping my pioneers with the pride? will they have much more power than the pioneer? are their bass quality good?

The Pride subs I have seen hit pretty hard, not familiar with the model you have listed but it looks like a good sub. Based on wattage alone if your getting 2 it should produce more spl if that's what your after.

ok

but the pioneer has 96Db as compared to 85 on the pride. you still think that the pride will be louder?

The sensitivity spec on a subwoofer should almost be ignored. Here is the oversimplified version. A higher power subwoofer has to have a stiffer suspension to keep the cone under control at high volume. The stiff suspension makes the cone harder to move at any power level. The sensitivity spec is done at 1 watt. The stiff subwoofer will not be as loud at 1 watt as the softer subwoofer.

This is just my opinion. If you are not replacing your amplifier, then no the Pride's will not be any louder. Now if you increase the wattage of the amplifier and have an enclosure specifically built for the Pride's, then yes. But just taking the Pioneers out of the box and replacing with the Pride's, NO there will not be any significant increase.

of course will change the amp also. will go with 1 offering 1000 watt rms for 1 sub.

Agreed.

I'd like to know which model Pioneer we're using and I'd like to see the box as it sits in the car first. It may well be that there's more gains to be had from just building a proper box for the Pioneers.

All things equal I don't think moving from one 2.5" coil sub to another is going to be any sort of dramatic gain. Or put another way, I would ask, how much money would you be willing to spend on 1 click of the volume knob?

pioneer 3003D4 sub. and the pride is sapphire 12 inch.

Honestly I don't think they'd sound much different just swapping subs...I think building a box to the pioneer specs would be more beneficial

Pioneer isn't telling but I'm going to guess that is 2.5" voice coil, if this is the case going into that Pride branded 2.5" coil sub will not be any sort of upgrade all things being equal. Going into a more rubust 3" coil from Pride would allow you to throw 1000W or more per woofer but that would require a bigger amp and very probably (expensive) upgrades to your electrical system.

Assuming you have a 1000W (or so) amp and you have a proper box, you are at a plateau where you are not going to get any audible gains without getting into some big and expensive upgrades. If you just have a pre-made box or a very small amplifier, buying an honest 1000W and building a custom box would be your best return on investment for hearing any improvements from smaller upgrades.
