Oil, food and territory. Ukraine has 15% of the worlds corn and 10% of the worlds wheat also. They feel like Ukraine was part of Russia. The NATO deal was enough all by itself to.. Russia is an artillery based military. Shelling cities from a distance is how they are set up to fight.
Russia has doctrine or agreements going back to the end of the Cold War (iirc) that revolves around NATO and what Russia would do if NATO tried to put itself on Russia’s doorstep. Both Ukraine and Russia are heavily corrupted nations or gov-states. I think Russia somewhat fell for a NATO trap by going in, but Russia maybe felt they didn’t have a choice as NATO is basically trying to surround the western border of Russia. NATO and the US were heavily arming Ukraine before the invasion, seemingly as if the US 100% wanted this war to happen.
Hey, at least the military industrial complex is making bank by turning our tax dollars into war weapons for a country we have no actual alliance with. How does this war benefit the people of the US? The US war machine is making serious bank selling all these weapons to Ukraine. Why do we really want a war Russia? What does the US have to do with Ukraine, at all, besides corrupt business dealings?
