From Drivesoft; We should read the quotes and little closer. We have been selling and designing in car pc's since 1997, not building since 1997. You are right. Developers can get a quicker boot time with XPEMB. However, we should read the comments better. We offer both XP Pro and EMB both of which is an 8sec boot time. Also if you would have created some test targets and tried EMB you would see that it dose not boot in 8 sec. We do have boot enhancements in our OS. For one, Most XP pro installs are 2.3gig. Ours is 1.43gig. Is it a big deal No, not really. Is an 8 sec boot time on XMEMB and Pro, no not really? the fact, that we talk to the power supply directly to ensure proper shutdown even if something in the OS doesn’t act right, big deal, maybe not. Because we can use many USB devices together on a system and it continues to hold down that 8 sec boot, I guess not but you should try it with a XM PCR and one of the Off the self touch screens that everyone is using and try to get a pc to shut down in S3 STR mode. You might be surprised to see it won’t work as many of the other add-on type pc accessories etc. How do we do it? not going to go there. Well as you said i guess we did not innovate anything, as far as piggy backing as you would say, well you would be surprised at just how deep our low level code goes and it is far from being a wrapper such as most GUI. These points above are like you said no big deal right? Well many guys that like this kind of car computing industry such as some here in the forums may think the things we did are innovative in some way. To a LE4 MSUI tech maybe not. You know Dell, Gateway, Compaq every year say they have done something new like the latest fad with home media desk tops. What’s innovative about that? I and you probably have had a pc on the TV and home audio unit for years in fact I have had it in 1994. So should I call Mr. Dell and MR gateway and tell them they did nothing innovative, I think not. You want me to tell you what was innovative about the home media pc that is now on the market. Just the fact that they are on the market and providing user with the option to have it with out the hassle. This is innovation at its best. So what has Drivesoft really done? You say not that much by the sounds of it and you know what? I can respect that. In fact I can respect all negativity because that’s what got me and my group this far. SO maybe you ask what I think is innovative. Well ok I will list it out short form. Was selling it in 1997 to many customers in all of my 3 car audio stores Showed Drivesoft in the ADS/Orion/PPI booth at the 1999 CES show with 3500 responses 2001 we have a serious following 2002 we could not believe the sales that were coming in 2003 we sold to more Celebes then I can count 2004 currently being seen by 3.5 million people many times over Currently up to 146 dealers buying from us with apps coming in every day 2004 is still not over an we are about to pour it on harder then Currently over 12000 units running. We brought something new and different to the table. That’s all So what this has to do with innovation. We say the taking a once homemade idea that many had back in the day and packaging it up so the everyday person can have something like this without the hassle is a start. Then coming up with some pretty unique ways to get it in to the car audio market with out the stores sending you on your way because the product was not called Sony or alpine. I would say that is innovative the way we want about our marketing. Successfully getting a PC type of product into car audio store that never sold PC type equipment before is a plus. Being able to maintain standard pricing in the car audio stores throughout the year like the other non-PC type venders. Which you should know that this is a difficult task as PC components is constantly change so we need to take the hit when our parts increase in price. We have customers going to car audio stores that do not have our product and asking them to order it because the Alpine and Kenwood etc is not what they want. Well if we can’t get any high-five on our Drivesoft Car Audio Computing solution, then at least give us some innovative credit on our Business choices. Now if you what you would have said we did not invent anything then I would have to agree, but I think will fall pretty close to the definition innovative. See below in•no•va•tion Listen: [ n -v sh n ] n. * The act of introducing something new. * Something newly introduced. in no•va tion•al innovativeness - noun - The quality of being novel: freshness, newfangledness, newness, novelty, originality. We are not an inventive company. however, we are innovative. Just wanted to clear that up. I should not be chatting so long but we take turns here at Drivesoft on the phone at night because we ship and support companies in different time’s zones and it gets a little slow at 4am. Good luck with your innovative software as it is “newly introduce†which would make you innovative as well. Pimp My Ride Crew Members Jack MadMike
