    Really harsh/bright/piercing audio

The conversion happens at the source of transmission. FM and AM are analogue signals. So is an RCA line level audio signal (which is what comes out of the 30 pin connector; hence the DAC in the adapter. It's essentially a mini RCA connection, which is analogue as well). It may have a DAC...

    Really harsh/bright/piercing audio

But there's no digital signal so what does the DAC do? Just trying to learn here. The OEM stereo supports AM, FM, and analog audio inputs from the 30 pin connector. With no digital signal, what does the DAC do?

    Really harsh/bright/piercing audio

I'll check that out! If they sound good off-axis, what do I do? It's not like I can move them. (And yes, they are pointed right at me). I don't know much about marine grade stuff either. There seems to be limited availability and they just look awful. Vanity, yes! But they're intended for...

    Really harsh/bright/piercing audio

Thanks. That's what I feared, I thought I'd ask here juuust in case there was something that could be done. I don't think there's ANY digital to analog converter at all. The audio it receives from my iPhone, for example, is using the 30-pin dock connector and it's analog leads (the Apple...

    Really harsh/bright/piercing audio

Hello friends! I installed a pair of Polk MM651 Marine speakers into my motorcycle fairing, along with a Rockford Fosgate PBR300X2 amplifier. The audio quality is really harsh at high frequencies. FM audio is really awful, sounding distorted and harsh at all volumes. Audio from my iPhone...

    Amplifier might be a dud?

Yeah, Stock. There are brackets available for an aftermarket head unit. But I really don't want to part with the OEM one. It just looks sooo good and really ties together the muscle car styling of the dash on this bike.

    Amplifier might be a dud?

Huh? I'm not following. I'm waiting for the new amp to get here, then I'll install it right where the dud was. I don't get what you're asking? All of the connections are done (minus the one I cut apart to diagnose), so it's just a simple swap-and-connect. I was referring to the work it took...

    Amplifier might be a dud?

Yeah, the bike is a toy. A really really fun toy! But, nothing that can't easily be left in dozens of pieces all over the garage. I just hope I don't have any bolts leftover once it's all put together. Thankfully it's a fuel injected motorcycle (well, they all are now). That significantly...

    Amplifier might be a dud?

I'm just hoping this fixes this problem! What an annoying issue! And I had to tear into the bike so much to run the wiring that I've got a few hours of ratchet-wrench time ahead of me just to get the darn thing running again once I get this stereo squared away. This turned into quite the project!

    Amplifier might be a dud?

Thanks! Yeah, I know what they look like and that they come with them. Like I said, that was a big determining factor in why I chose them. They are already installed (I'm just not home to take a picture); I'm just waiting the amp install. Well, now, awaiting a replacement amp.

    Amplifier might be a dud?

There's a guy who 3D Prints these adapters specifically for this motorcycle. The mount where the factory grill mounted and provide a standard 6.5" mounting platform. Not my bike or my speakers, (In fact; one big reason I went with the Polk speakers, is that their grill is not obnoxious, fake...

    Amplifier might be a dud?

That's what I was afraid of. Okay; back to Amazon!

    Amplifier might be a dud?

Thanks! So, I did swap both speakers. It's in a motorcycle fairing so the speakers are only a foot from the amp. Swapping the speaker leads didn't change anything; except which speaker played. I'm not using the vehicles OEM wiring out to the speakers. The Vehicles OEM wiring is used for the...

    Amplifier might be a dud?

No, it's not an issue with the output side or the speakers. As I said in the OP, I did run both sides of the input to the left side of the amp; and both sides work. I can get either speaker to work by switching which side they're connected to. And the amp works if the LEFT side input is...

    Amplifier might be a dud?

Hey folks! So I'm upgrading the stereo on my motorcycle. I've replaced the factory 5.25" cheap speakers with a pair of Polk MM651 6.5" speakers, and I'm installing a Rockford Fosgate PBR300X2 Amp. I'm using high level inputs for the Rockford amp. From the factory, the speakers plug in to a...
