    Need a refresher!

WOW, cudos to Pioneer and JVC.  I worked for Alpine for almost a decade don't remember having any HU with active band-pass.  Just got off the phone with their senior product planner and he doesn't remember one either.  I tried to look up the UTE & CDEs, but Alpine's support website is down...

    Need a refresher!

It's going to be tough to find any headunit with a built in band pass crossover.  I've been in car stereo since the '80s and off the top of my head can't come up with one that could.  Alpine had their V12 Expert amps and a couple processors that did it, but I don't think you'll find anything...

Ok So i Have a Suite Alpine system do I match it with an Alpine Headunit or go Kenwood

I've been around car audio for over 30 years.  It's not critical that you match all your components by brand, but know manufacturers build their product to work best with each other.  Sound quality is a very subjective thing, but in my experience Alpine source units have the best sound quality...

Speaker Break-in Period, and when to tune?

Nope, I’m not kidding. I started working in car audio back in the 80’s, including nearly a decade working for Alpine. I was lucky enough to build some great systems and learn from the best installers and engineers in the industry. As far as headphones go, you probably won’t hear a big...

Speaker Break-in Period, and when to tune?

Yes, there is a break in period with speakers, especially high end models. The general rule of thumb is play the system at moderate volumes for the first 20-40 hours. The same goes for headphones.

Looking to redo my rca runs while laying new carpet what's the best in opinion

I use 20 gauge wire, twist pairs together in a drill, and solder RCA ends on them. I've done this for more than 20 years and have never come across any noise. It makes for a nice clean install: all cables are the right length and I use black for ground, white, gray, green, & purple for...

What Brand of Head Unit Do You Have ?

I always had /////ALPINE but switched to Kenwood a couple years ago only because I didn't like /////ALPINE's integrated navigation and I'm old/stubborn and won't give up a CD/DVD transport. /////ALPINE still has the best SQ and GUI, but in this case, Kenwood fit the bill. I still use PDX amps...

What Brand of Head Unit Do You Have ?

When I started working in car audio I had Kenwood. Since '95 it's been Alpine... whom I worked for for almost 10 years..

Alpine CDE-9870 Remote Turn On Current

The remote turn on for Alpine H/U's are around 200 mA, 300mA tops. I've always used a relay when using more than two amps.

Alpine PXA Imprint PXA-H100 and pioneer headunit

Yes, you are right in saying you need an Alpine Ai-Net headunit to use the PXA-H100. The PXA-800, however, has analog inputs you could use your Pioneer headunit to drive it. You will also need the H800's controller to make 'on the fly' adjustments. Hope this helps.

    /////ALPINE 7909 2-DIN wish list

Just throwing this out there to get some feedback. If Alpine were to build a '2-DIN 7909', what features would be most & least important.

What to purchase for new audio system in my car?

You'll get tight, accurate bass with a sealed enclosure. The Kicker amp you're looking at will likely need at least a 4 gauge wire from your battery. Use at least a 12 gauge speaker cable from the amp to the subs. There are many different practices as far as subwoofer impedance, 4-ohm gives...
