This^ rent a 36mm axle socket and a pickle fork and its pretty easy. remove the wheel and brakes then disconnect the lower balljoint and swing the knuckle up and pull the cv shaft out.

Out of what ive used personally, My vote goes to the 800prs. I had a 860mp color and a 800mp that i also liked but the prs blew them out of the water. As far as double dins go im loving my x920bt, i had an eclipse 5495 with the hdd but it was such a crappy interface.

a very fine film of dielectric grease on the faceplate connection might solve your loose face plate issue. I had to do this once a year or so on my old 860mp and worked great for a while.
