I was just wondering if it is possible to fit a pheonix gold 6.5" speaker in a 4 * 6 hole in a 4 door cavalier without power windows. I think I would have to mount them externally, but I would prefer not to.

easy just make a wood adapter. Check clearances on all sides, depth and how tall it stands.

Simple enough. Like he said make an adapter. It could possibly fit in the hole with some small modification, but would not be worth the wasted time and effort. Plus would leave holes around the speaker you probably do not want.
