    Icon30 grounding kit vs "big-3"

i went to a local audio shop and talked to them about the "big-3". they were pretty much thinking "wtf is the big-3?". then i told them it was neg to chassis, positive alternator post to positive battery post, and engine to chassis. then they knew what i was talking about.. a grounding kit

i thought a grounding kit is different than the big-3 upgrade?

as for as i know, the big-3 upgrade involves:
    1) negative battery post to chassis
    2) positive alternator post to positive battery post (w/fuse)
    3) engine to chassis (or alternator mounting post to chassis, since the alt is mounted onto the engine block)

    and a grounding kit involves:
    1) negative battery terminal to tranny ground point?
    2) from tranny to firewall
    3) from firewall to chassis/factory ground point
    4) from negative battery terminal to chassis/factory ground point (preferably radiator support ground point)
    5) chassis to engine (or valve cover)

can someone verify that a grounding kit is completely different to the "big-3" upgrade? or are they somehow similar at some point?

and lastly, which of either 2 benefits what?

    Re: grounding kit vs "big-3"

    retailers scare me sometimes
grounding to valve cover? wtf most valve covers are aluminum
tranny to firewall? well, thats allmost like engine to chasis just a confusing way to explain since the tranny is connected to the engine

    its all pretty simple -
BAT NEG TO FRAME/CHASSIS - I prefer actual frame rather than sheet metal
    neg frame/chassis to engine -
pos alt to pos bat (fuse optional) some guys run fused some dont - its not a bad idea but I dont

f**k the grounding kit I would rather the Big 3 since it would be cheaper and less time consuming than running all that unnecessary wire

    Re: grounding kit vs "big-3"

Useless. The only grounding I have are the Big 3 and I'm planning a common ground wire for my 2 amps running from the negative battery terminal to a ground distribution block in the trunk and split off to my 2 amps. From there, each amp grounded to the chassis in the trunk.

You don't even really need the common ground, I just did it for extra protection. Big 3 grounding and just grounding your amps to the chassis in the trunk would be fine.
