    Car washing gone bad...

This morning I went and washed my car. On the way home my subs started hitting very loudly not in accordance with the music either, just one solid hit. The first time it did it i just thought maybe the cd had gotten hung up or something so I started the song over and everything was fine for a few moments then the bass hit again this time it did not stop and as I turned down the volume the bass stayed the same... then I started to smell a terrible burning smell coming from the trunk... so I turn off the engine of my car pull over and open the trunk and find that my amp has gotten wet not soaked or anything just a couple of drops of water on the top of the amp. I then disconnected my power wire from the battery and drive home. What do I do now... is my amp gone? Or is there something I can do?

    Naa let it dry out..

Take a hairdryer to it.. Give it a few hours or over night before you reconnect it..

Turn it upside down too ..

You may have ruined it, just wait a day or two until it is COMPLETELY dry and try again. If you fried it try to repair it, what do you have to lose?

I put my Motorola i730 (Nextel) through the wash. Once it dried out it did everything perfectly.

    Re: Car washing gone bad...

The amount of CURRENT DRAW is a huge factor is how a piece of electronics can live through being wet. With a gameboy, 2 AAs is so little power that it can't create enough heat to damage anything. Hence, I hear a lot about gameboys getting soaked and living. A motorolla cell phone uses a very large battery, so big they've been known to explode. It's no wonder that died.

As for the amp... well.. depends on the amp, the volume, and your luck. I hope the last of the three holds up.

    Re: Car washing gone bad...

Well you smelt a burning smell. That obviously is not a good sign. somthing is fryed. But I agree let it dry then test it. It probably wont work but you never know until you test it.
