Icon32 HO Alt Vs. a Gel Batt.

ok so i just installed a 2000w amp. my lights are dimming like crazy everybeat, i know if im not carefull im gonna kill my battery real quick. first thought that came to mind was HO alternator. but a friend who had the same problem only with a bigger amp, told me he just baught a gel batt instead. they are used for boats mostly cuz they dont realy discharge at all from non use. and they take 1/4 of the power to recharge as a wet-cell batt. he said it doesnt even take a minute or two for the gel batt to fully recharge. i alsmost believe him, hes got 3 1000w amps in his blazer. we went for a ride last night, an the lights dimmed very very little, it was hardly even noticable. I think the gel bat might be a good alternative to the HO altenator for small trips, less than 5hrs. but for a long hual, like a road trip, i dunno... cuz the amp would be still pullin more then the stock alt output, so its still tappin the batt anyways. but the gels recharge so effiencently it wont matter. an a big plus he can get me one at cost, instead of the $200-$400 retail. so what do you pll think?

The Alt runs the vehicle, there for a new alternator would be a smarter buy

you got to take a guess is the battery going to drain faster or is the alt going to charge faster? my guess the alternator is going to charge faster.

the battery stores power then over time rolls off. a battery isnt a fix nor does it make power it simply stores it

I did the big 3 with 1/0 gauge and bought a yellow top. That stopped all of my dimming. I am only running 1000W though.
