    Sound deadening help. New Pics

So I am going to deaden my doors before my new comps get here. I take the door pannels off both doors. On the passenger door everything looks good, installing will be a breeze. On the driver door, I had some work done about 6 months ago. The plastic sheet that covers the door skin has black goo on it. So thick that when I try to take it off it streches like pizza cheese, stickes to everything and wont come off. Now I have tried everything that I can think of to get it off. Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried, rubbing alcohol, soap and water, spatula to scratch it off. Nothing works, all I have now is this huge mess of black goo.
The only thing I can think to do is cut the plastic around the goo and deaden over it. But that is my last resort.

    Help?
    -Justin

EDIT: If I get home before dark I will post some Pics. Pics at bottom,

Maybe the black goo IS sound deadening!

Get something to freeze the goo (fire extinguisher?) and then break it off.

    Take off every 'sig.

    Re: Sound deadening help.

get a can or two of tetrafluoroethane. or "air in a can"

you know, the air duster to clean out compuerters and crap? that tetra stuff acually does come in a solid can of that stuff, and itl work better, but the 'canned air' stuff - just flip it upside down and spray it on whatever you need cold. i got some on my desk, and i got bored, so i had an empty pepsi bottle, and it had a little bit left in the bottom - so i sprayed a bunch in the bottle and the liquid froze. dont spray yourself. it hurts like a motherfukcer.

that should do the trick. and you can get it at ANY local computer\home store. just flip er upside down and the clear liquid will freeze anything.

oh yea. also - a razorblade will prolly help alot too.

    Hi jntar,
First off>>>Smokin' avatar .Ok.....now to your question. The black stretchy gooey stuff is a factory applied "Dum~Dum" sorta speak. It holds the plastic vapor barrier to the door skin. It's a "******" to get off.The dri-ice would work and probably the spray in a can for computes.I would try mineral spirits,or goo~be~gone on a rag wearing latex gloves.I don't know about using a razor blade,as it will damage the paint surface.....That's your call.....I wouldn't do it.
A dull putty knife or your local body shop should have "Plastic Razor Blades".They look like and are shaped like the real blade..only plastic. And it won't scratch the finish .It will take time and the min.spirits or goo~be~gone will make a mess(have paper towels or a bunch of rags),but will have a nice end result.Use alcohol to wipe down the area where the mat is to be applied(I'm sure you knew that anyways ).Take Your time and be patient, and reap the rewards. All The Best.

Thanks for the help man. I am going to try the dry ice this weekend. Use it to harden the goo, a plastic paint spatula to peel it off. Grease Lighning to get the rest, then alcohol to finish the clean. I will take some before and after shots for everyone.

    Re: Sound deadening help.

To take off the sticky **** left behind by decals and such on dirtbikes, quad and such. We just scrape off the decal what we can, and then take some carb cleaner and that usually does a good job.

Dont think that carbcleaner is going to work.

Here are some pics. The other door looks nothing like this, there is none of that gooie **** on there. Its soo thick that scraping it off just smears it all over the place.
