    Subwoofer Not Working

I turned on my stereo today and my sub was not working, the amp does turn on but there is no sound coming from the sub. After i turned it on it worked for maybe a few seconds and then shut off. Everything appears to be hooked up fine and i checked the fuses on both the amp and the one to the batttery and they also look fine. It worked fine yesterday, i dont understand what could be wrong?

    Re: Subwoofer Not Working

the only thing left to check is the amp...you could have fried the channel...how did you wire the sub to the amp?...if you hooked it up under the minimal ohm load it most likely blew the amp....let us no what sub you have, how you wired it and what amp you have( had)...lol

    Re: Subwoofer Not Working

hey think i have the same problem:
How ever i know my sub works fine, its a amp problem.

I just installed my new amp, its a pioneer gm-5000t
Anyways got a bit of a problemo.
The amp worked great when i first installed it last night.
Thinking everything was good, let it be and went to bed.
anyways this morning when i got up, turned on my car, amp powers up as normal, how ever, there is no power going to the sub.
all the cables are still hooked up correctly.
i took it to my local car audio shop to have a look, they couldnt see anything wrong with the setup and why no power is going from the amp to the sub.
So i put my old amp on, and all works fine.

Anyone got any suggestions on what could be wrong? or what i can do to fix it...

    Thanks

    Re: Subwoofer Not Working

your wiring is prolly not sutible for the amp

do you know how many ohms your amps are rated for? if you have an amp that is ONLY BRIDGEBALE AT 4 OHMS and you wired it at 2 ohms unconciously, the amp is prolly gone to heaven.

i HIGHLY doubt your subwoofer has fried.
