Opinion on getting more bass from one 12 in. sub
I have one Eclipse 12 in. (DVC - 4 ohms ea.) sub and the MTX 405 to push it. I have it as 2 ohms and the amp is at 381 watts RMS into 2 ohms x 1 (tested) on the sub output. My question is: Do you know of a way to get more bass without adding another sub? The back panel of the rear seats is made of metal. I know sub notes are non-directional, but it can't go through metal. What is your opinion on the facing of the sub?

take out your rear speakers and port it through the back dash.

I agree. If you do not have seats that fold down or a ski hole that goes into the trunk there is not too much you can do. Take out the rear speakers assuming that there is a hole underneath the rear speakers and clear out any debis in the hole.

Build a new box......preferably ported............
Re: Opinion on getting more bass from one 12 in. sub
The way you tune the box and the amp, and the head unit all factor into more bass as well. if you boost 40hz, youll get a deep rumble, at 50hz you get more punch. Usually if I have the option, I'll boost 43hz and that sounds pretty good in most cars.
But as stated previously, go with a ported box... or even a bandpass that has tunable ports. Or build your own after you find out how much air the sub needs. Eclipse should say what frequency will be boosted or cut depending on how much air and the type of box you have. Most of the higher end companies do this (dyn, xtant ads etc...).
