Alpine 9835 Memory resets itself after ignition is turned off.

I just got an Alpine 9835 headunit and I installed it using the 12V power from the wiring harness. The problem is that when I turn my ignition off and turn it on again, the deck loses all the settings that I put into it and resets completely. I wired the yellow power wire and the red ignition wire (from the headunit) both onto the 12V power wire from the wiring harness. If anyone has a suggestion please tell me; I would greatly appreciate it.

i believe the yellow wire should go to a constant 12v source and the red wire is the remote/ignition wire.

i don't know i think red is constant 12v, and yellow is switched 12V. either way they don't both go to the same place. look in your instruction book, or the web site or somthin.

yea you shouldnt have wired them together. yellow is constant 12v and red is ignition 12v. i had to do this for a bit when i got my alpine cda 9823 b/c a fuse was blown in my fuse panel. but yea yellow to yellow red to red. never wire together.

you can wire them together if you want your hu to tun on/off independent of your ignition. right now i have both my yellow and red wire connected to constant 12v power soucre so i can operate my system without my keys in the ignition. also, this reminds me to remove my face plate since the hu will still be on whenever i turn off the ignition.

Also, you have to save the settings for the 9835 if you want the deck to keep them when you shut it off. Look in the manual to see how to do it.
