It sounds like the amp is going into protect mode. This means one of a thousand reasons why. A short, speakers wired to low of Ohms, wrong power wire, wrong ground, bad ground and so on. I hope you have at a minimum 4 ga wire for your amp and ground, if not that may be one of the problems. Take a volt meter and take a reading at the amps + and - and see if you are still getting the 12 to 14.7 volts at the input after it shuts off. If so then you know it is the amp. You may have a bad amp.

Did you buy the setup at a dealer/store? if so, take it back and have them check it out. Better yet, just return it.
