2nd battery question

I will be running a second battery and need to know the minimum size of the wire that can be run from battery to battey??? I was told by one shop only 1/0 and 0 gauge will do...another told me 4 gauge is fine. and alot cheaper since i have laying around...

it depends on the length of the wire.
id put up a wiring diagram but my internet is messed up

Just go with whatever u have laying around.

I have used 4GA no problem. 13' run with a stock 80A alt.

Shouldn't need a fuse in between batteries...

thanks i used the 4 gauge and a fuse with the correct rating....i don't want to be punching myself in the face anytime soon.... :readytogo

And actually you should be fusing the cable between them at both ends as close to each battery as possible. If there is a short in the wire (and you may not even do anything wrong to cause it, some ******* might rearend you, you never know.) you need to remove the current source from the short. You have a current source at each end of that wire so a single fuse isn't going to cut it.

the wire from the first battery to the relay isolator is a whole 4 inches then the length between the 2nd battery and the fuse is 6 inches so i feel pretty safe but thanks...but i do need to fust the battery to amps now...
