    Ripped off by installer?

So after having a system "professionally" installed I find that it has constant noise in (changes frequency depending on speed of the engine) and has bags of excess wire etc. I took the door panels off because both rear doors had stopped unlocking to find this: https://imgur.com/a/sDda8

They sold me sheets and sheets of sound deadening stuff, am I right in assuming that the random patches they've stuck on are good for pretty much nothing and that they probably put the rest back into their stock?

    Thanks

Pretty shoddy work! I had my installer guy put all the Damplifier Pro and almost all the Luxury Liner Pro I bought in and some BQuiet I'd bought before I bought the Second Skin stuff on/in! All over the place. Little patches of sound deadener is better than nothing, but not nearly as good as covering the panels to be deadened as completely as possible.

And those wiring jobs need some terminals on the wires!! Or at least the strands of wire twisted and tinned, then properly wrapped around the screw.

Sounds like you took all 8 inches dude. But seriously thats a sad excuse for an installer to leave clumps of wire. Small patches of sound deadening acutually do work to reduce vibrations but they didnt use nearly as much as you paid. I would probably look to see if there is anything else wrong then go back and start asking questions.

Well, we're not looking at the outer door's inner sheet metal surface either, behind what looks like a plastic pretty complete inner door panel cover. That's where I had my installer guy put a lot of Damplifier Pro.

And that is why I'm glad I worked WITH my installer guy the entire time I had him working on my install. I was watching everything he did. Everything!

    Re: Ripped off by installer?

Yeah, that's rough man. The deadener is fine. Covering the entire panels is just waiting deadener but I'm sure you paid for more than they put on. I'd leave the panels off and take it back to them and say "wtf" and try and get your money back for at least the deadener.

Next time do it yourself. If you can take remove the panels you can do your own install.

And again that''s why I'm glad I was there to watch and consult with my installer guy for everything he did for me. I actually wanted him to install panel deadener to the inside surface of the inner door sheet metal also, but relented on that as long as he covered the outside surface as completely as possible/feasible. Which he did! I was sorry I hadn't bought more Damplifier Pro because it's better than the BQuiet stuff I;d purchased, but the BQuiet stuff was better than nothing.

I really took a risk when I took Baby II to Custom Sounds and they took Baby II into their sequestered shop area and did all the work they did for me.

You're constantly post dumping in the classifieds. Don't think you should be telling anyone to stfu until you follow your own advice.

I watched and consulted with my installer guy on everything he did, save for the exact way he wanted to wire my amps which was probably my mistake. But I let him do the wiring the way HE wanted and it works, just maybe not as good as it could.

I know exactly how I'm gonna change the wiring when I decide to go full active with my DSP! Then I will have to learn how to configure my DSP myself.
