How To Test An Amp??

I own a JL amp that I'm scared might be fried, not sure but the open wires might have crossed when I disconnected my blown subs. My dad has a digital voltmeter but I dont know how to work it haha. Anyone familiar with these and can tell me how to test my amp?

I'd say hook up the amp, see if you get a power light. Then hook up a sub and see if you get some music.

If you got a little spark you are probably fine but if it was a huge one, then I am not sure.

I have the JL e1200 amp, its like 120x1@4ohms and I'm in the market for new subs... I was thinking "2" JL 10 w0's

Will 2 of these subs work or should I get the 8ohms ones, and should I get 2subs or will one be enough, once I receive the subs I plan to have a custom box installed.
