Icon32 What to do if you can't get a H/O Alt. yet?

Yeah, fella's.What do you do if you don't have the cash for a highoutput alternator right now?My car is a 93'Ford Probe. It has a 80-amp stock alternator. And I will be installing a Fusion Jonah Lomu (FJL-1211D)Class-D amplifier and a Audiobahn(A6004T)4-channel amp 75Wx4@4ohms stereo
    The Class-d amp is about a 1300-1400Watts x1@1ohm
I'll be running apair of 12" Fusion Jonah Lomu(FJL-1211)dual 4ohm subwoofers
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, advise,or opinions! Clint :thumbsupw

yea, I'm gonna do a big 3 soon also. I was looking under my hood and I never really noticed that the only ground connection from the chassis to the battery was via 1-8gauge(it seems) wire!!! No wonder I havedimming problems!!

Once you've upgraded the big 3 if you just watch the volume and listen at a level that is enough to be heard in your car and not trying to be heard down the street, you will likely be fine with the stock alt.

search for it, big three wires under the hood, less resistance with the alt and the batt

I fixed your post. As you had it it would have been rather catostrophic.

    ^ x2...ouch

I had a scary experience yesterday...thought my car was gonna blow up. I was driving down western (a big street) and all of a sudden I hear booms and white flashes of light and thought it was my car/amps! I pulled over as soon as I could, hopped out the car as fast as I could...when I felt stupid as hell. There was this festival type-thing and they were doing fireworks....lol

Re: What to do if you can't get a H/O Alt. yet?

I would get a stronger battery (eg. Optima Yellow Top) ,a Capacitor, and also to check out www.bcae1.com. It has a lot of useful information about car audio. The "bcae"
stands for "Basic Car Audio Electronics," the name speaks for itself.

Ride: 1998 Honda Accord EX Coupe
    HU: Alpine DVA-9681
    Epicenter (in dash)
    Aphex Processer by Kove Audio
Capacitor: 1 Frad Rockford Fosgate (monitor top)
    Amp: MTX 405 (5-ch.)
    Front: Boston Acoustics Pro60
    Rear: Boston Acoustics SX95
Sub: 1 (one) Eclipse SW8122DVC (12 in. sub)

    Added the "BIG 3"
    Load Boss Alternator (180 Amps)
One HC1400 Kinetik Battery (using as main battery)

I'd rather save the money and put it towards getting an alternator quicker.
