    Engine Noise

Good Evening.... So here is this newbs story...

My Head Unit is a Alpine 134HD
My speakers are Kicker 5 1/4 speakers
My ride is a 1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4 Door

The stereo setup like above Headunit and speakers it was nice... But I wanted more. So I installed my amp.

    1. Power wire ran on drivers side
    2. Constant on drivers side
    3. RCA Jacks on Passenger Side
    4. Speaker Wire on passenger side

    BOOM Engine Whine...

1... First fix attempt. I took each ground off and ground till bare metal. I even ground down the grounds in the engine bay (one from block to firewall, battery negative to wheel well. So I am 110 percent sure all grounds are on bare metal...

2... Then today I ran and bought Brand new shielded RCA jacks. I figured it was the RCA jacks because when I remove them from the head unit the noise is gone.

3... Then the noise was still there so I tried to ground the RCA jacks. NOPE, still there..

So all those above did nothing to improve it.

I want to fix it and not toss a filter on, but I am lost. Everything I know to try has failed me. I have never had this occur before. What is funny, is I took my time. One day ran the power wire and grounds. Did nothing else so I would not be rushed. No kinks, just the right amount of wire, no excess. Then a few days later I run the RCA and Speaker Wires. I forgot to mention I am using new 12 gauge speaker wire too. I just took my time so it would be ideal in hopes I could get the most out of the stuff I had.

So I am open to suggestions...

    Thanks... NEWB...

    Re: Engine Noise

I ground all ground connections to bare metal and still the issue. I replaced rca cords. I have been told to run a wire from the headunit ground to the alternator ground and have been told to run all grounds to the battery negative.

    opinions?

    Re: Engine Noise

I'm having the same exact problem. Did you run your driver side speaker wire the same path as your 0 gauge wire to the amp? Or did you use a **** load of wire and route your driver side speaker wire to the other side of the car back to the amp?

I have a feeling my issue with the engine whine is because my speaker wires are ran next to the 0 gauge power wire on the driver side of the car
