building solar floating ice chest entertainment center

Im building a solar powered floating icechcest intertainment center. Im just researching solar equipment and am not sure if i have it all correct. Is there anyone out there that has any experince with it. I was going to power a headunit and dvd player that will be a source to 1 10 inch screen and the radio will power 2 6x9's. I found solar pannels in radioshacks webpage that are 6volts and 7 amps each, i was going to wire them in parallell to get 12 volts and use a pair of 6volt batterys they sell to power the copmonets.

anyone have any suggestions for me?????

where do you plan to mount the solar cells? also, do you plan to wire all of your entertainment components to the solar cell powered batteries? if so, i'm not sure if the solar cells will be able to keep up with the amount of power pulled. however, it's a nice idea.

I don't think it will work. In your home the power outlets the smallest is 15amps. What kind of solar panels are you getting?

Re: building solar floating ice chest entertainment center

If I delete the dvd player and the monitor, and just use a cd player and 4 6x9's that may be enough power for that.....I dont understasnd why you say it may not be enough power if a cd player pulls no more than 15-20 amps max. If the batteries are 6volts I can wire them in parallell to provide 12 volts and the solar cells supply 7 amps each so by wiring them in parallell that should be 14 amps. Am I missing something? Do you think the CD head unit will pull too much current too fast or may there be another problem???

you have to remember though that 7 amps/cell is in prime conditions.
