    Icon32 Alternator fit

Hi, I recently ordered an HO alternator and I noticed it has a smaller pulley than my oem alternator.

    1- Anyone know why?

2- What's the exact difference in performance and/or output between a big pulley and a smaller pulley on an alternator?

    Thank you.

The smaller pulley creates more revolutions per minute this creating more idle output

The pulley spins more and it helps generate more amps

Ok, but will it cause problems on the electrical or engine?

    Thanks.

Is there a way to keep the alternator cooler?

A ho alt shouldnt really need cooling..they all get hot..get a belt 1/2" shorter than stock belt to reduce slippage due to high rms

    Re: Alternator fit

I'd go an inch shorter and, alternators have built in cooling fins. As long as it's spinning, it's cooling.

Do you also recommend smaller pulley?

Wouldn't that faster spinning just make it wear out faster? Especially ones using the same case?

Like Nasty said, they come with smaller pulleys. But yeah, I'd recommend it too.
