want to go 3 way active need help and suggestion

hi every one, i wasnt active much as i want, but im back

im considering to install a 3 way in my jetta 97
    hu cd7000
    front set cdt cl6 100 rms hp100hz
    rear set- none
    amp Ads power plate 6ch

i was thinking about a mid bass beacuse those mids with hp at 100hz do nothing
installing midbass in rear doors ( can sit on rear deck too) low pass at 90 or even 80hz, about clipping with cdt dont worry dont listen to music with much bass so that is not a problem..

my question is.. if midbass are in rear doors will it affect quality? will i get a front stage (thats what im looking for). cause with cdt set i got a front stage wit no sub, but i want, you know complete stage with that bass end... something not really big, was thinking about dayton DC160-8 6-1/2" or peerless Peerless 830657 or Peerless SDS-160F25PR01-08 6-1/2" (dont knoe differences between peerless)
make a kick panel is not a possibility want to keep speaker in stock place

    any suggestion will help

Why not do the hd 61a set from cdt. The high definition components have better mid bass response than the cl versions at $270 a set new. Not much can beat the sound or price and hand built in Cali to

Add a small subwoofer in the rear of the vehicle. If your Jetta has a trunk you could put a pair of 6.5" subs in the rear deck. It's the most practical way you're going to fill out the low end, and even bass guitar goes down to 40 Hz.

trumpet, but installing 6.5 subs... can go 3 way or just 2 way and a pair of subs ?

some good midbass around 50-100 bucks dont matter if 5.25, 6.5 or even 7"

3-way is 3 sets of speakers, so tweeters, mids, and subs or tweeters, mids, and woofers(midbass). You can split that into more channels using additional crossovers, but that will add to the cost and it gets harder to tune everything.

Silver Flute 6.5" woofers are probably your best best for a midbass speaker in that budget. What I recommend from CDT is HD-M6, and those are $200/pair. The 6.7" subwoofers I recommend are HD-6MDVC and those are also $200/pair.

. want to play with crosspoints, everything from hu all the way easier than with many things... can set crosspoints and slopes
question... can i setup a 3 way silver flute cdt mids and tweeters? or it will be just 2 way system and 6,5 subs (of course can try out, and wait until my ears speak about)

was looking some reviews about silver flute seems to be good quality.. what do you think? i choose quality instead of spl.... less volume but more quality
now creating an account from madisound.com to probably buy them....

With only the crossovers on your head unit you can do either 3-way with the front speakers or 2-way speakers and the subs. You don't have enough channels to do 3-way up front and subs. That's 4-way.

If you choose to use Silver Flute speakers you should use a small midrange,, in the 2" to 4" size, if you want to do a 3-way speaker arrangement. It would be something like this: MX-369-3, except of course with different speakers.

These Silver Flute speakers come recommended by some smart, experienced people. I have not used them.

Re: want to go 3 way active need help and suggestion

yes, you can put midbass in the rear doors and they can work well as long as the relationship of distance to each ear is equal for both front door and rear door on each side. in that case, the brain won't be able to tell the rear from the front and may assign to the front. door treatments for midbass response is not trivial.

before evaluating midbass response of a speaker: 1. swap sub phase. 2. run the speaker full range with no crossover. crossovers cause phase shifts which will cause cancellation and also level attenuation.

i have used the Silver Flute woofers and enjoyed them as dedicated midbass and full range. they are currently in my home theater in custom enclosures that have nice room response down to 30Hz (i'm not using a dedicated sub with them). i put a lot of effort into my doors to get them to sound the way i wanted.

have you been helped by me? i'd love to know. shoot me a PM.

If you aren't going to use a subwoofer that's fine.
