Perfect that's the case boomsday, just got the package of new ones from eBay. It's prolly running so much current through that garbage copper allum wire that I got. Thank you for the answers. Just curious when running two mono amps does the polarity always have to be flipped on the slave amp? Granted the subs are in phase when checked with a 9v but from prior experiences I still had to flip one of the wires around. Voice coils start to smell when I turn them up and gain is tuned perfectly with my 5v pre outs. The subs that are smelling are my orions I think there the old school hccas with the gray and black basket.

......... so when the fuse goes to an annodised/black color, does that mean the fuse is about to blow? and does it restrict pwr when it's like this?
do you have two kx1200.1's strapped? (only stable to 2 ohm I think) also my 1200.1 is still going strong

That's what was happening its almost like the subs were cutting out when they were dropping on lows, but after tonight putting in the new 250 its in working order except after a full song at 75% they start stinking.

Unfortunately I don't have two Kx's, I'm running a hifonics glx1400.1. It's loud but I hate even showing people. Just on a budget lately....better than no bass.

Re: 250 amp fuse turned a strange color in the center....

Maybe if I had two Kx12's but I'm sure the internals of the glx is nothing like the kx. Plus sonic is **** about the seal being broken just in case I would need a warranty replacement.

the kx internals are actually pretty ugly, (glue dollips everyware) but if you have warrenty, you doint want to void that

Re: 250 amp fuse turned a strange color in the center....

Can you clarify a few things?

Are you running two 1000+ watt amps on one run of 4 gauge CCA fused at 250 amps?

Are you running multiple brands of subs?

If so, are they in the same air space?

When you say gains are set perfectly, how did you go about setting them and did you verify head unit clipping level before setting them?
