Icon32 Quality Power/Speaker Wire and from who?

Here is my setup, I need to know how much of each type of wire i may need for my setup, and then some.

    H/O Alt.
New Batt w/fused distro on top.
PG 10 or 20 Farad power distribution center in trunk with:
---[possible distro block for car electrical]
    ---[ANL style fuses]
    ---[possibly a fuse/line/amp/voltage monitoring thingy.](tsunami?)
    ---[Two JL 1000/1 amps]
    ---[Two JL 12W7-3's]
    ---[Two JL 300/2] or [one 450/4 and a 300/2]
---[a 3-way component set] (kickpanels and doors)
---[a pair of high powered 4-way 6x9s in the rear deck]
    ---[Alpine head unit]

I dont want the most expensive interconnects out there, but i want highest quality. As for fuses, distro blocks, fused distros, and power wire, these are the websites im looking up.

    www.tsunamionline.com
    www.streetwires.com
    www.knukonceptz.com
    www.stingerelectronics.com
    www.lightningaudio.com
    www.audiobahnconnections.com
    www.phoenixgold.com

I just need to know how much wire i would need to wire such a system. I plan on wiring Two I/0 wire to the trunk, and sending one back up front to ground.

    100 feet of I/0?
    same for 4ga?
Do i need anything smaller than 4ga for up front under the hood? 8, 12, 16ga?
I thought a minimum of 12 feet of I/0 was necessary to go from the battery top distro to the trunk, winding its way through walls and under seats. How long should my RCA interconnects be? 10? 15 feet? and some 5 footers? my amps will be mounted in a false floor [how boring..] and the box will be as far back against the seats as possible. i think 3 feet from amp to sub will be too short, or be stretching it.

Im ready to order my RCA's and spools. Once i figure out what other gauges of wire i need other than I/0 and 4ga, i can figure out what kind of distro blocks and fuseblocks i will need. As for Ground terminals? do i ground the equipment to ground terminals in the trunk? or run ground wires up front? Does it matter where i ground my amps and such?
What solder is recommended for wiring this up?

100 feet of 0/1 AWG wire AND 4AWG wire? Have you lost your mind?

Re: Quality Power/Speaker Wire and from who?

I am running a single 1/0 to the trunk for power and another for ground. I have about 25 feet of silver for power and the same amount for ground. I only got about 10 feet of 4 ga each color for running from distribution to amps and it is more than enough. The amount of 1/0 also was enough to upgrade my alt + wire and my block ground to 1/0. I still have some left over as well. You only need 1 run of 1/0 for power to the trunk, not 2. If you get the 450/4 you will not need another 300/2.

Re: Quality Power/Speaker Wire and from who?

    O. the place i was looking at sold the cable by the spool. I/0 was 50 foot. 4awg was 100 ft. Never been to weldingsupply. And i think Knu sells it by the foot? For my other car, and future installs, Id like to buy it bulk so i can just have it handy. so 50 feet of I/0 would be enough? and less than that for the 4ga? I want to rewire as much of the electrical system as i can. Everything is patched with electrical tape.. its unnerving.

Most of the loom in most new cars are wrapped in electrical tape. It is just there to keep the wire bundles together. There are no splices in the wires unless you or a prervious owner put them there. If you start just randomly replacing wires you're going to add unnecessary splices into and otherwise single run of wire. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Quality Power/Speaker Wire and from who?

I figured as much. my brig is 12 years old tho. ew!
its got an old crusty battery, terminals, cables, and everything.
I just dont any of my new power to be coarsing through the OLD cables, If they are in plain sight and can easily be replaced by new wire, id rather do that, and ill pay the extra $500 or grand if thats what it takes. No mistakes. I like to cover all my bases...
Dont most people rewire most of that basic electrical stuff under the hood when they get their alt or batt put in?

Re: Quality Power/Speaker Wire and from who?

The only wire that matters is the battery ground, the engine block ground and the alternator + wire. All the other stuff is adequate, has nothing to do with the stereo and is not replaced. If you are worried about how it looks, put split loom over it. That will dress it up pretty well and make the engine bay look much nicer.
