Not if I want it to perform well.. Be tuned to the subs I get and look nice... Because apparently the enclosure makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE.

I still don't see how box design makes a difference can't u just calculate the best cubi inches for 2 12s and then that's it spec box for that sub should hit hardest no?

no. there is a ton of things that come in to factor with what will work best in your vehicle. sub position, port position, size of the enclosure, port area, type of port, ect ect. 90% of the install is in the box. it will make or break your system. if you want to get loud it will take some experimenting.

Many "professional" box designers just wing it based on the known formulas. Better box designers can tweak based on years of trial and error in many different applications. Absolutely no substitute for experience.

You might consider getting some designs from a reputable builder and finding a local finish carpenter or cabinet shop that can assemble from those plans if you want a clean look. It will likely be cheaper than shipping. Box is important, but for the price of shipping a good large box to Canada you could probably just take a vacation/road trip and pick it up yourself.

Also considering the arse rape you're going to take in shipping I'd look into lightweight equipment. Fi BTL neo subs would be my top choice since they're strong performers, well built and relatively lightweight for what they'll do. They will also hold good resale value. Personally I'd suggest 3 12's if you don't know what you're doing since they have a good bit of cone area and will be a lot less likely to fail on 5K than a pair of 15's or a single sub.

I would also look into Brazilian amps for the same reason. Stetsom or Soundigital 4K, or 5K could be shipped to you for far less money than any of the big Korean 5K's people are suggesting.

Don't cheap out on batteries or a strong HO alternator!!!

150 is a bit more difficult than most people think and I expect it'll cost well over 6000$ MSRP to do it with JL audio equipment and take up a lot more space than you're trying to use.

Also classifieds section is your friend. There's plenty of members in Canada that already took the tax hit to get things into the country (or just drove to USA to buy) that can probably save you a ton on good quality used gear.

i wasn't implying that our vehicles where alike, i was saying it doesnt take multiple big subs and gobs of power to do a 50. its funny how people assume things.

99% of audio shops dont do it right the first time. they sell shit equipment and shit boxes. so if that is what you are looking for then go to a audio store. if you want a good install, take our advise quit arguing with what we tell you, and shut up an listen.

Uhm I'm trying to listen... No one can give me a straight answer.. Apparently a box is so technical. No one can tell me what's best and hits hardest in a yj. All I've heard is audio places **** and do it yourself.. So if that's my answer.. Why am I here ?

I know how to set it up.. See the video on page 1... It's a box.. I have 35 inches by 35 inches by 17 inches I think that's roughly 12 cubic feet an no one can tell me what the optimal design for my 95 jeep yj is. But apparently it takes knowledge and technology so I guess I'm up shitcreek.

And I guess even with what I've decided to go with now so far.. Still digging though
    Dc 5.0k amp
    2 12xl's
    170amp alt mechman
    4 d3100's

Apparently still won't achieve too much Earbleeding epicness. But should satisfy my hunger.

i dont know if anyone here has a yj. so it would be up to you to do the trail and error and see what works. one thing you can do is contact mobile enclosures. he is great to work with. and will try and get you the best enclosure to work well with your vehicle. we would also need demensions on the space you have available to know what size of subs you can run. but it is also up to you with what you want to do. do you want to wall off your yj and run 4 15s or do you just want to run a pair of 12s.
