Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
As long as you can hit the power level you want, you're good. It doesn't make the amp "work harder" to have the gain up high.
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
does the headunit have a sub level control? and are you saying the HU puts out .5 - .6 or 5-6 those dots make a HUGE difference. what headunit do u have?
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
It's output volt is around .5, I called the manufacture and that's what they told me. It's a mono output with no sub control.
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
If you pat attention to the Hifonics amp the gain is actually marked in HU output and all the way up is .2V so if your at .5-.6 it will be way up.
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
Get a new HU if you want to fix the "issue".
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
Everyone talks about gains and not using it as a volume knob, well by me having it at 80% to meet my .5 volt output isnt that kinda using it as a volume knoB? I mean the amp doesnt really get that hot butt it does pop 120amp fuses under the good if i pound for to long. I am just trying to perserve the life of my amplifier thats all. But Once i hit the lottery steve here i come!
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
Seriously man, get a deck with a dedicated sub out and at least 2v out.
Re: HU pre-out & amp gains!
No, you're using it how you're supposed to. To match the input voltage to the ouput.
