Corroded wire. Which kind should I get?
Just noticed that a lot of my 12 guage speaker wire is corroded under the shielding. I assumr its from moisture or something. Is there a particular type of wire I should look for that will not do this?
Preferably from Knukonceptz coz I think their shipping is reasonable tobCanada
Thanks
Re: Corroded wire. Which kind should I get?
Knu OFC speaker wire would be what most people recommend, but I've run their TCA wire with no problem at all. You can get their 14ga TCA for 22 cents a foot as well.
To prevent corrosion next time, be sure to use heat-shrink and good connectors rather than just bare wire. It'll help tons with fighting off the elements.

What would be the largest guage to use for AQ HDC3 subs? Will be running two or three together.
Its weird coz my speaker wire in the box is corroded. Dont know how that happened?

this stuff is a steal, and I would recommend it for the amount of power you are using. plus, it's tinned so it'll never corrode like your old wire.

And if that's not enough, there's a 25ft roll for eighteen bucks.

Wire corrodes from moisture. I'd say you have a leaky trunk.

I run eight gauge to my subs. a lot of people do. I drill two small holes in the box, just big enough to run the wire through so it's a snug fit. some people prefer to use bolts and ring terminals, attaching the wire to bolts on the outside and inside. that's the best way to go to prevent a leak. I just made the holes really snug on mine, and it worked fine.
