    Icon9 sub cutting out

Hi im new here with a frustrating problem. First off I have a Re audio dts 1000.1 amp hooked to 2 powerbass s12 s
That are dual 4 ohms each but I have it wired to the amp at 1 ohm to give me 400 watts per sub rms.
The problem im having is the system played real good the whole first day it was installed.
I was really impressed but since then it has been cutting down to half the db at times but at random would come back on at full power. At first I thought my gain was set too high so I went to adjust and upon tuning noticed one of.my subs was cutting out bad. I haven't checked the wiring since I have 2 downfire boxes in my truck
But wouldn't both stop playing or cut out since they are wired in series.
Anyone with any advise please help

Hmm, have you checked your voltage with, and without a load lately?Free at Autozone/Orileys..Sounds like to me your output is not keeping up with the demand

There batts that dont leak. Better for systems and stuff. I would go with the biggest you can. Try to use 0 awg for the big 3

    Re: sub cutting out

check the sub tensil wires. My sub did this exact thing and it was a bad spot in the tensil wire.

Or more generally, that this is an auditory scene that could have existed at all?"

What is the subs tensile wire? What do I do if it has a bad spot in it?

    Re: sub cutting out

The two silver wires running from the +- on your sub and down underneath the cone. Look close for a break, rough spot or discolored spot. I saw a brownish spot and the wire didnt looki clean at that spot.
I clipped it and crimped a terminal there. But this may not be the best way to fix a tensil wire, i saw where people slder the wire..... Maybe someone will post who knows how to fix them.
Check the two wires first and see if they are broke or have any bad spots.

You say you clamped a terminal there. What kind of terminal? Did it fix it?

Well im at work right now so I haven't had the chance to look at em
But just wanted to know in case that is the issue.
There was a hole in the outside rubber thing I guess
where the drill slipped or something when my cousin was
Putting em in my box but I covered it with silicone.
The way the sub is acting it sounds like something is loosing connection
and I think its what you are talking bout.

Have you even looked inside the box to see if there is just a wire loose on the subs or the terminal inside the box

    Re: sub cutting out

Well even if one sub would cut out the one that's working is still hooked to the amp .You just need to pull the subs out. Test them. Go all the way over them. And hook them up separate to see how they act

    Re: sub cutting out

Seems to be in the internal wiring of the sub. Voltage reads good to the speaker.
One thing I forgot to say I get a hum from from that speaker
before it cuts out. But the other speaker does fine and have had no
    Issues with it.
