Do you mean for ground/power?
I used to use that 20+ years ago as an alternate to audio power/ground in order to save some cash. Though it did work for what I needed to do, I don't use welding cable anymore for anything other than a welding ground on my MIG.
It deifnitely can handle as much or more current than the AT OFC, but the jacket will be a bit more fragile and it will be less flexible.
Assuming it's a high strand count then it will work fine. I've used 2/0 & 4/0 welding in a few builds....
it is 1254 strands of 30 gauge. I can get 50' for $100
Yes, definitely beware, some wire has a few giant strands, it's a pita to work with.
