    Where is your ground?
    Is it soldered or twisted?

    Re: horrible alt whine.

Check both the amp ground and headunit ground.

If that doesn't help, try grounding the RCA's.

    Re: horrible alt whine.

I've went threw 3 Excelons in the last year and they all had the same issue. I finally got tired of sending them back. I just got some 16 gauge wire I had stripped the jacket and unscrewed two screws on the back of the head unit, wrapped the wire around each screw and the rca the had the whine. Replaced the screws and no more whine. I'm going back to Alpine from now on though. 3 faulty Kenwoods is enough for me. I'll never buy anything of theirs again sad to say.
