not sure if op has made his decision yet, but if you have 2 4ohm subs, you can use a mono 2ohm amplifier, as long as you connect the subs in parallel, because that would drop your equivalent resistance to 2ohms
this is based on knowledge i have of physics, but heres a link to a wikipedia article that details what i have said in short

So both subs would be at 2 ohms? Would that hit as hard as if they were both at 4ohms?

His subs are Dvc 4ohm therefore on a mono amp it can be wired to 1 or 4 ohm
