I will be installing a single amp (JL XD500/3). Besides having a fuse holder near the the battery of the car, do I need another fuse holder near the amp? Amp will be located near the back of the truck. I don't think the amp has a built in fuse. I am running a 4 gauge wire.

Absolutely fuse it within a couple of feet of the amp. An 80 amp fuse should do fine.
Why? Jl does not agree with you and they made the amp. How would having a fuse at the battery and a fuse at the amp make a difference?Quote:
