Wierd Multimeter readings

So I just got a used 15" kicker l7
threw the multimeter on ohms setting at 200, and tested each coil.
1 read 4.4ohms and the other read 6.6ohms . So I wire the coils up in parallel and test with DMM and get 2.7ohms.
When I threw the sub in the truck it seemed to work just fine. Didn't sound blown, didn't smell and had some decent bass, I didn't really turn it up loud tho, just want to see if it worked.
When I test my other subs out with the DMM I get the correct readings so its not the DMM.
Is this sub burnt up and waiting to die?

I'd bet that the 6.6 ohm coil has issues. I wouldn't trust the sub with rated power.

unhook it and check it now, i would bet it evened out, sometimes they get weird from sitting and the cone can sag causing a weird reading, i wouldnt worry about it

I checked it over and over and kept getting different readings.

The meter when touch the leads has a .4 difference.
When I measures other sub it reads 3.7 Every single time.
What is going on here?

thats kicker for ya... first sub i ever tested coils on was a L5 12. a friend picked it up in the kicker box(ported to like 41hz no less. fucktards tune so **** high) coil 1 read 5.7 and coil 2 read 2.3 it was supposed to be a D4. he took it back and got a new one, C1 was 2.2 and C2 was 2.4 again, supposed to be a D4...

Id say just bump it and see what happens. You got it used so I assume you cant return it.

sounds fine to me. take .4 from all your readings. i would bet your other sub is real stiff. many, especially with higher sensitivity are going to vary the reading, especially with any noise/vibration effecting your cone. it gets worse, the lower the voltage and resistance your meter employs to take the reading. on my fluke, i almost always need to hook the leads up and walk back in the quiet to get it to level out to a good reading. you should see what a real good 40watt 8ohm home sub does to the readings. drives me nuts. what i would do to triple check, is to slowly wiggle each tinsel and see if there is a big spike in the reading you can duplicate. other than that, wang away.

oh, and a weak meter battery is going to have a good effect on your reading.

Temperature, barometric pressure, and where the coil is at rest will change the DC resistance of the DMM readings. The 6.6 ohms does not sound right.

Id say just bump it and see what happens. You got it used so I assume you cant return it.

I paid $175 , I got a sealed box the 15" kicker sub, the kicker metal grille and 2 digital power caps. And no I cannot return them.
I had the same thouhts, bump it and see, but if I blow another sub my wife will not be very impressed and it will be rela hard to convince to I NEED another one.
I guess I don't really have a choice tho.

The battery was just replaced a couple days ago. it is brand new

SO what does it usually mean when the ohms go above what they should be. The other sub I blew was supposed to be 4ohms but it says 2.3. But that sub sounds like **** when I play it. This other sub I bought sounds fine.

I also retested the coils 3 times this morning. First 2 times it read 4.7 for both coils and the last time 5.1 for both coils.
