4500 watts

Doing 2 positive runs, one negative run, and grounding to frame isn't a bad idea. If you ground to frame and it's good then you shouldn't need that ground run, but it's a good idea. I think you should at least do 2 positive runs. I would not only do 1.You can ground to frame at first, and watch your voltages (at the amp AND up front. Compare the two.) very closely the first time you really fire it up. If back is dropping bad, then you know it's your ground, and you will need to either redo your grounds or run some wire. If you're on a budget this could save some cash. I'm a firm believer that a voltage meter should be step one when upgrading anything 1k or over.

Whatever you decide, just make sure you fuse well.

Stock alternator is not throwing out what a DC 270XP would either. Sure, you're not going to see all of that amperage going to the back, but it's possible to see 200A easily, plus amperage from the battery if he's drawing from that. It adds up to a possibility of drawing more than that single wire can handle. That's why we fuse, and yeah it's only a small chance, but personally I do not want to take that chance.

Call it insurance man, I'd rather pay for another run of wire than a full car. Maybe that's just me.

sounds like a sketchy install if it goes up in flames .....ofc is good for 300a but yea 2 runs wouldnt hurt

but yes if u have the dough and wana feel super safe do 2 pos runs and a neg run

He's gonna want more than 1 run. OP, you're going to want the same amount of return (ground) capacity as you do originating (positive) capacity. You also have frame as an option.

true id ground both batts to frame as well as run inbetween

do 2 runs, especially if putting a deka under the hood. 2 grounds to frame and ground amps to rear batts...

Never understood why people can't comprehend basic electrical foundations. 2 Runs would be optimal as it would decrease heat vs 1 run, although 1 run of OFC should be capable of carrying the entire load the 270 can keep up with. 4 runs is just extra weight, and a waste of money.

EDIT: NVM I read down further after posting this. 2 Runs of power is great.

Best recommendation I've seen today. I'm currently running 8k on 3 Deka 9A31s. I wouldn't recommend doing that, but I'm running a 3ohm nom. load with one of the most efficient amps out there, so I'm getting away with it and not having voltage drop. I plan on beefing up to 6 and adding another alt just for funsies.

I digress, the Dekas are a great battery at a fraction of the cost of an XS Power batt. If you aren't strictly burping with the vehicle off, do the Dekas.

Buddy is running a sundown 3k off a D3400 and a 150a stock alt. Voltage doesn't go below mid 13's if the engine is rev'd. I would say that is plenty. Keep in mind after box rise you are actually going to be seeing a bit less than that so it's not completely necessary to have that much electrical for it. Yes, more is better but you should be plenty fine. Just make sure your engine is rev'd cause you don't have much reserve there so your alt will be the big thing that gives power

So if I did 3 deka g31 batts, one under hood, two in trunk. A 270 amp alt. And two runs of 1/0 power to back and grounded batts to good spot on the frame it would be good? Could I ground in the back and do just one run of negative to front batt?
