Local guy wants to trade me a cd860hc
This local guy wants to trade me a cd860hc amp. He says it can be ran from 12v to 24 v . He told me that the amp works and everything. He said the only problem is that the amp wont work unless it has good electrical. I hae stock eectrical on a aq 2200d at 2 ohm and it works, but he said this wont unless i have big 3 some extra batts and a ho alt. is this true and he said only 0 guage will work for it or it will blow. or is this amp just broken .
thanks in advanced

high current amps are usually electrical hogs that will do well in lower ohm loads. And being that it is likely a class A/B amp it will be less efficient than class D. It may work if you don't let the impedance go too low, but most likely it would pull more current than your AQ right now

Re: Local guy wants to trade me a cd860hc
So does it mean it's broke if the amp won't work when I have stock elcteical cause te guy said it will only work on upgraded
Re: Local guy wants to trade me a cd860hc
Doesn't mean its broke, if you were to run it at a higher ohm load you prob be fine. If you want to run it @ 2 or 1ohm you won't be.
I'd just keep what you have. No doubt its a bad mammajamma but it requires alot of current. And unless you want to upgrade everything just stick with whatcha got.
Re: Local guy wants to trade me a cd860hc
It should work just fine on 12 volt or more no matter what. If it won't work at all when hooked up, then yes it is broke.
Re: Local guy wants to trade me a cd860hc
The amp should "work" no matter what electrical you have, stock or upgraded.
You will just need the upgrades to get the most potential and reliability.

i know im going to upgrade my new car i get next month but anyways he said it wont power on unless its upgraded and he says it will only take zero guage
