Head unit mounting issues.... how do I get these tabs off?!?!
Okay, so.. I know it's a piece of crap so please don't comment on that.. I'm WELL aware. It's all I really need for the amount of money I want to spend. Anyway, I have a Scosche in-dash installation kit for my 2004 F-150 pickup.. All is fine and dandy except it's time to remove those tabs that I don't need so the kit will fit into my dash. It says in the manual to simply "cut and remove shaded tabs".... but they are like a quarter of an inch thick plastic that I can't break off. How can I cut them off? I don't have any fancy tools or saws or anything so.. help?

good scissor/dykes and sandpaper, about as simple as it can get

If you take a razor knife and go around the edge of it to score it then grab it and it should break right off nice and easy. Thats what i do.

I usually take a pair of lineman pliers and cut them.... But I have also all Klein electrician tools...
