yes i would be buying them new. Would the subs not be underpowered with that amp?
yea they would,i was only using 1 cvx 12 and i was beatin on it pretty good.never had a problem out of it.eventually though, you will want something that sounds better.
This was when I had my 2 12" CVXs in my Nissan Sentra - I built the box ( 5.51cuft tuned @ 37.5hz )
... The amp I was running was a Power Acoustik Stax 5500/1D ( WAY too much power for them, but I loved it EVERY BIT! )
This is when I had my 2 12" CVRs in my Nissan Sentra - I also built the box ( 5.51cuft tuned @ 35hz ) - Same size box, different port tuning
... I had an Autotek AT-2000.1D on them at first, then I changed to the Power Acoustik 5500/1D...
MY OPINIONS ON THE SUBS!
... The Kicker CVRs:
They hit harder than your average, budget subwoofer... They just can't take the power for a long period of time at high volume. Overall sound and quality and effieciency - they pass the test! What I like about them the most - they hit BOTH ways ( In & Out ), alot of subs hit just 1 way.... Kicker made sure that this sub was capable of products every single note in it's range....
...The Kicker CVXs:
They can take a TREMENDOUS amount of abuse... They handle the power they are rated at ( 750 ) VERY WELL, and the good thing is, you can add alittle more and still sound decent! They don't get very low, but they hit their notes with authority! If you can afford them ( they aren't expensive at all ) GET THEM!
WORDS FROM THE EXPERIENCED & WISH:
... It's ALL in the enclosure that you have built for them... If your enclosure is right, you don't need all that power... ( But it never hurts to have TOO much power - Just tone it down. )
so if i were to get 2 12" CVX would the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D be a good amp for them? and thanks for your opinion by the way
As was already stated in this thread much much better can be had then cheap as over priced kicker lol.. With that much power big 3 and a second batt will probably be needed so keep that in mind on a budget...
You're welcome... And yes, the Hifonics Brutus 1700.1D will be enough power...
Skip the kickers and hit up a Skar VVX or RE SXX
How much would the big 3 and a battery run
Cheap... Batteries aren't expensive... And the big 3 can be done by yourself... ( Youtube - Big 3 Installation )
what about an optima yellow top? is that an good option?
okay so which model?
well im running 2 15 cvr's and there duel voice coil at 4 ohm and i have them briged to 1 ohm stable on a hifonics brutis 1700.1 mono amp and it hit super hard im hitten at least a 142 db,s im ganna be getten a hifonics brutis 2100.1 soon so im hopen its ganna hit pritty hard. my buddy is runnen 1 12 cvx in a 1.8 cubic foot sloted box with a 650 kicker amp and hes hitten a 141.1 db so i agree the cvx's are much better and can handle a lot more but still put out a lot of bass and clarity with a low watt amp but my suggestion is deff ither one u pick ither the cvx or cvr the hifonics brutis is the way to go for sure it sund realy good
but my persanl suggestion would be if ur ganna run the cvr's the 1700.1 brutis would be grait but if ur ganna go with the cvx's prob do the 2100.1 brutis or the 2400.1 brutis and ull be dumpen hard lol oh and if ur tryen to stay in ur buget check out ebay u will get realy good deals hope u enjoy and i hope any thing i said helps
