Help find an amp for my subs?

i bought the 12' AW1251J audiobahn subs from my brother in law for $125. they are boxed and broken in and bumped pretty well when he showed me them in his car

There are two of them. i know, i know. i read around on the site and it says that audiobahn ***** but i bought them and might as well try to use them for what i can.

any suggestions on what amp would make these subs work best?

The best thing you can do with them is slam them in your brother in laws face for ripping you off

Re: Help find an amp for my subs?

those subs cost less than $70 each brand new
you used paid $125 for what cost $140 new
    Ask for your money back

    isn't this also you? http://www.caraudio.com/forums/members/sterwee.html
you created this new username cause you did not want to hear the advice you were given in your other thread? Would my amp work with these subs?

Those subs are not very good, buy any amp you want (pawn shops, walmart, ect)

When you get bored of it and want some real equipment then we can help you, until then do whatever you want cause you are not going to listen to any advice given here.

if that other user is not you, even thought the 2 cities listed as location touch each other, then this amp would be fine for you MB Quart ONX1.1000D - ONYX Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier/Amp

Re: Help find an amp for my subs?

the MB Quart amp will be good cause if you get some better subs down the road it will be able to handle them

Make sure you use some quality wire (4 gauge) to wire your amp - be careful about buying wire from Ebay cause it is mostly very low quality.

Re: Help find an amp for my subs?

Whats your price range? I am assuming you have 2 of these that are D4 so you will want an amp that does a 1ohm load and gives ~500W RMS. Looking at those subs I have a hard time believing they will take 800W RMS of daily abuse. 500W RMS should give you plenty of power. Just a few examples below.. you really have a ton of options so picking a price range first would help narrow down your selection.

WoofersEtc.com - XXD 1500 - ARC Audio 1 Channel 500W Class D Amplifier (keep in mind not an authorized dealer as far as I know)
    WoofersEtc.com - FD 600.1 - ARC Audio 1 Channel 620 Watt Amplifier
Product 3 (Loved this company when I used their amps)
    WoofersEtc.com - XT-1000D - US Amps 1 Ch 1000 Watt Power Amplifier

    Sound Monitor CDT- 450x + Mosconi 6to8
ARC Audio 4150 XXK - Scanspeak Illuminator 1", Morel CDM88
ARC Audio 4150 XXK- Hybrid Audio Tech L6SE
ARC Audio KAR 1000.1 - 12" Morel Ultimo SC

Re: Help find an amp for my subs?

There is ne us in getting a expensive amp for those subs. Get as cheap as you can and use it for a while until you save enough to sell it all and start over
